Asher scowled. "And just when things were starting to get better..."

"Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Owen found this... marking on his arm." He held his arm out so Asher could see.

"What the-! How in the world-"

"I don't exactly know... My arm felt like it was on fire, I pulled the sleeve down, and this is what I found."

"I've never seen anything like it."

"Never?" I frowned.

"No." Asher shook his head. "I've never seen a symbol like this. It isn't from our word."

"So, Owen did get it from opening the tear?"

"That would be the only reasonable answer."

"Then what do we do?" I asked.

"Logan fell asleep a few minutes ago. For now, all we can do is wait until tomorrow and see what he has to say," Asher answered. "And we should probably put something on that." He gestured for us to follow.

We entered a medicine room a few doors down from Logan's. Owen and I sat down while Asher took out some supplies. He grabbed an ointment from a cabinet and applied it to Owen's arm, then loosely wrapped it with a generous amount of gauze and secured it with a bandage clip.

"Okay, Dawn. You're next." He reached for a rubbing alcohol-soaked cotton ball and moved towards my neck.

"Do not." I gritting through my teeth. "Alcohol burns."

"I have to." He glided the cotton ball over my fairy bite, making me hiss. He crouched a little and inspected it closely.

"You can see the teeth marks. The fairy could have bitten off a chunk."

I scowled. "That's not really helping..."

Chuckling, Asher grabbed another cotton ball. "If you plan on going outside, put a bandaid on it." He moved towards my face.

"Oh no..."

"Oh, yes." He dabbed the cuts on my cheek, just as Owen had done back in Dark Forest Island. I gnawed on my lip to keep silent. "She could have-"

"Ripped through my whole cheek and left my teeth exposed. I know, I know."

He grabbed an otoscope and used it to shine light on my cheek. "I don't see any muscle damage, with makes sense, or else you wouldn't be able to talk or eat well... It looks like they're just scratches that aren't too deep."

"No stitches?"

"No stitches."

I looked at Owen. "See? Told ya." He rolled his eyes.

"I'm pretty sure they'll be fine as long as you cover them up when you go outside. You wouldn't want any dirt seeping in." Asher then moved on to wrapping my knuckles, giving me a pain pill for my shoulder, and telling me at least fifty times to stay hydrated.

"So what's the news with Logan?" I asked.

"Very minimal kidney damage, so he's going to be on medicine for a while. But that's about it. His body is already starting to heal itself on its own." I smiled, relieved, when Asher continued. "So there is definitely going to be a lot of work to do with restoring the village. Plus, we still have all those people that we placed in the Meadow... And we have that strange symbol and the negative effects of the tear to worry about.... But as for right now, we have a few days to be normal again. Until Logan's strong enough to be back on his feet. So why don't you show your friends around? Have some well-deserved fun?"
