Hey, everyone! Thanks for reading! This chapter is long, sorry, I couldnt help myself! But hopefully you'll love it anyways! I worked hard on it! <3 (btw I just posted a picture of the Dawn's "main menu" in the story. Ugh, it took me forever because it wouldn't upload! But please check it out! I drew it myself).
My hands were shaking, I couldn't focus, and I was on the verge of tears because of how frustrated I was. How the hell do you do this?! My head was pulsing, but I couldn't remember anything that I had learned from the past two weeks.
"Woah, Dawn! Just calm down; it's okay. I'll teach you again, no need to worry."
"Beth! Today is the last day of training, but I don't know a thing! You're Little Miss Expert and even Ally and Megan are getting the hang of it, but I can't! This just isn't my thing."
"Don't worry! When we're in SkyFall, I teach you everything I know, but for now it's just the basics." We were in the training facility, looking at a giant touchscreen that represented how SkyFall would be.
"Okay, so first, you just drag your finger down the screen, and the main menu comes up. In SkyFall, you just reach your hand out, pull down, and the menu appears, out of thin air."
"Yes and I'll just go along with that like if that's not the craziest thing I've ever heard!" I said sarcastically.
Beth laughed and continued." Okay here on the left, there are three bars. The top one is your life bar; the heart next to it has a number, which means the number of lives that you have. The actual bar has three colors: green, yellow, and red. Let's say that you're fighting with someone and you have 6 lives. When they hit you, the bar lowers, depending on how much damage they did. If you get in the red zone, your in danger of losing a life. When the bar empties completely, the heart will now say 5 because you lost a life, and the bar will refill as long as you have lives."
"What happens when you run out of lives?"
"You die." Beth said flatly.
"So... It's like 'game over' then everything resets to the beginning or something?"
Beth was silent for a few seconds, then said,"Well... no... Since we're actually going to live in the game, once you die, you die for real."
"Oh." I swallowed and tried to play it cooly, but she saw through me.
"Don't worry Dawn. As long as you don't cause trouble and don't fall of cliffs or something, I guarantee you won't lose a single life. And since I already have a SkyFall profile, I'm going to have about 97 lives, so if anyone's gonna lose a life out of all of us, it's going to be me because I've got plenty to spare."
This loosened the knot that had formed in my stomach. "Okay, so what are the other two bars?"
"This one right below the life bar says 'food' so it's pretty simple. You can go days without eating, but that will slowly decrease the bar. Throughout the game, you might randomly find a food pack, and that will refill the bar. If it empties completely, you lose a life. Got it?"
"Yep. And the last one?"
"That one says 'rest'. Just like the food bar, you can go days with out sleeping, but that will lower the rest bar. When I've played the game, you just find a safe spot, like a cave or something, then you press the 'rest button'." Beth said as she pointed to the button in the touchscreen. "You can rest in the middle of the day, but most people do it at night, since there's less of a chance for someone to attack you. It's kind of confusing though, because when I've played, you press 'rest', then three seconds later, the rest bar is full. But now that we're gonna be in the game, I heard that when you rest, you actually sleep for hours."
