Truth

Beth's words echoed in my mind: No one has even seen him before. And if you ever do, you should probably be scared shitless.

"What!?" I gasped, nearly breathless.

"I didn't think it'd be that surprising really..."

"Of course it's surprising! I'm laying next to the guy that created it all!"

"And you're not afraid?"

"I probably should be... And I probably would have been if I had known before," I admitted. "But I'm not."

"And why is that?" he gave a soft smile.

"I'm not scared because if you aren't mad, you aren't scary."

"And about that, I'm really sorry, it's just-"

"It's okay, you don't have to explain."

"But I want to explain," he paused. "I was having a rough day with all the new humans entering."

"I can imagine. If I made a video game and mine was chosen for relocation, I'd be pretty busy too."

He his cute cocking-his-head-to-the-side thing. "Video game? What's that?"

I sat up suddenly. "You don't know what that is..." It was more of a statement than a question. "Then... Then, you're a fake character." So The Creator isn't the maker of the game, he's just literally part of the game... no... He was real! It's not fair...

Grey-eyes sat up too. "Umm... 'fake character'... I'm not understanding you..."

"Of course. You don't even know that you're not a real person..."

"I'm real. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be sitting here now. Did a sky piece fall on your head too?" It was a genuine question.

"No... I don't think so... I'm not crazy if that's what you're saying..."

"That's not what I meant. But care to explain what you mean?"

"Okay, well back on Earth, we make stuff for entertainment. Some of these things are called video games. SkyFall is an example of one. Earth was hit by an asteroid, so we had to leave or else we would die. Scientists thought it would be best to move into this video game. Although I have no idea why it would be this one... Others would have been much simpler. And you are a character of this human-made video game."

He was silent. I began to fidget a little, wondering what was going on in his mind. "You're rulers told all of you some heavy amount of lies."

"It's not lies, it's the truth."

"Dawn," he paused. My heart skipped a beat. How did he know my name? Oh wait, my gamer tag gave it away... "This is not a 'video game', I have never even heard of such a thing..."

"That's because you part of it!" I was growing frustrated. If he isn't real... What happens next?

"No, just listen. Your people came to me for help. They wanted me to open the portal wide enough to allow your people to enter. I didn't want to do it, it would disrupt my people. But if I refused, I would be somewhat responsible for every single one of your deaths."

He paused to let it sink in and continued. "Your people knew about SkyFall because years ago, there was an opening in my dimension, caused by your nosy humans. They were able to make a very small portal, and I was going to close it, but they convinced me that they didn't mean any harm. The portal allowed the awareness of my world, but the humans couldn't enter it. Until I opened it wider, and well, here you are."

I was speechless. And he continued. "I was angry that day because your ungrateful humans- no offense- were being destructive, ruinous, careless! Some were quick to level up and were setting all of the forest on fire! I had to go fix it, and teach them a lesson or two."

"You killed them?" I interrupted as I finally managed to speak.

"Of course not! I placed them back on level one and made their moves completely unusable. Even if they get a new move, they won't be able to use it. And after that, I thought the problems were done, but no, they had just begun. The market was being robbed, by humans of course. I could care less if they robbed each other, but not my people. I had to fix that too. Also, some raided homes, took supplies from the train's cargo, tried cheating on quests..." I thought about how Megan, Beth, Ally, and I had rode on top of the freight carts. Whoops... But it wasn't anything bad. We didn't take anything in the carts, we only rode on them...

"And I was beyond annoyed. I even began to perimeter the village to make sure nothing else happened. But this time, the next human to cause trouble would be a goner. I was tried of giving chances."

"And that 'next human' happened to be Megan..."

"Yes, your friend. Other humans had done an innumerable amount of things, but none had dared to even touch me."

"And when Megan hit you..."

"I thought it was on purpose and I thought she was doing it for her entertainment. And you know the rest of the story." He sighed.

"And you chased after me because you were mad that I had pushed Megan away from the energy ball."

"Well yes, I wanted to annihilate you too, but I was also surprised. I took somewhat of an interest in you, but I was more angry than curious."

"Until I surprised you again with fire shock!" I said proudly.

"Yes. And from then on, I didn't want to kill you."

"How kind of you," I teased.

"And I went to the safe house to find you -it was a smart move using the oven by the way- but the sky fell."

"What's a safe house?"

"It's a place that cannot be destroyed by sky pieces. It has a protection spell. I did it myself," he said quite proudly.

"And that's why people go there when the sky's falling. For protection."

"You catch on quite fast," he said softly. Then added, " I found you by some dumpsters after the sky fell, and I took you to my meadow," he gestured with his hand.

"It's beautiful," I whispered.

"And no one has access to it except for me. No one has even seen it."

"No wonder, it's not on the map."

"Well neither is my castle." I smiled at that. Ally would have loved to be here right now. She would have especially loved to see the castle...

"And we'll be headed there tomorrow," he said. He stood up and took my hand to help me up. This time I didn't pull away. After I was up, he held my hand for a few second longer, then let go. With a small gesture of his hand, the plate and deer skin that I left on the ground disappeared.

"It that a 'Creator move' only, or do master-leveled people do that too?"

"Only I can teleport and make things appear and disappear like that, but they can levitate and do other things. Also, only I can heal others, open portals, take people's powers away, and more."

"You're amazing," I said without thinking about it. I flushed with embarrassment. Gosh, Dawn! Why do you have to be so stupid!?

He smiled. "Then that makes two of us." It was getting late and we went inside the cottage. "You should go to sleep and refill all of your rest bar."

"What about you? Or does The Creator not sleep?"

He laughed. "Of course I sleep; I'm not God. But my rest bar is fully intact, so I don't need it."

I agreed to go to sleep and he sat in front of the small table, sipping some tea.

Again, I was covered in the warmth of the bed. I was only half conscious when I drowsily mumbled, "Mh, what's... your name?"

I heard a slight chuckle. "Logan."
