When the only world left is a game.
Prologue:
I threw the empty video game case onto the bed.
"SkyFall? Lame."
"It's not lame!" Beth said defensively. "You just don't know how to play it."
"I don't want to know how to play it," I said, grabbing a handful of chips and plopping down on her bed. "Video games aren't my thing."
"Your loss," Beth said in a singsong voice. "It's the best game ever."
"Riiiiiiight," I said dismissively.
But little did I know that I probably should have played a game or two with her. Little did I know that any experience whatsoever would have helped me out a lot. I especially didn't know that, in a few years, Earth would be no more.
