In the early hours of the morning, I strolled from the kitchen to my room, a refreshing drink in hand.

As I glanced at my phone, engrossed in its screen, a message from an unfamiliar number appeared.

Intrigued, I halted my steps and eagerly opened the text. The words that greeted me sent a shiver down my spine.

"I possess knowledge about Alok Chopra, something that I believe you would find intriguing. I am aware of the events from your past, all of which were caused by Alok Chopra. He is a cunning individual capable of anything and everything. If you are willing, let us meet."

My heart skipped a beat.
How could this person know about the secrets my uncle held?

I carefully placed my glass on a nearby table, my mind racing with thoughts.

If this mysterious individual truly had information about Uncle Alok, perhaps I could uncover the truth and protect my family from any potential harm.

If they were an eyewitness to the crimes committed against me, I could even consider taking legal action.

However, the repercussions of such a decision weighed heavily on my mind. It would expose the truth to the world, including my grandfather.
But for now, I needed to reach out to this person.

With a sense of urgency, I hurriedly ascended the stairs, only to collide with someone and stumble.

It was Adhrit.

At that moment, Adhrit caught me, his arms providing a secure embrace.

However, something seemed off. Instead of helping me regain my balance, his eyes revealed a whirlwind of emotions.

There was a look on his face, as if this was his chance at redemption, as if letting me fall would cost him his life.

"Adhrit?" I called out but received no response.

"Adhrit!" I exclaimed, this time causing him to flinch and release his grip. I tumbled backwards, landing on my back.

"If you wanted to hurt me, why did you hold me so tightly and for so long? Just to let me fall and get hurt? Why give me hope when you weren't even going to help?" I complained, rubbing my aching back.

He seemed surprised and bent down towards me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," he apologized, reaching out to help me. But I pushed his hand away, letting a tear escape from my eye.
It was all an act, although it did hurt a little.

He looked panicked.

"Did it hurt that bad?" he asked, concerned.

"Yes!" I exclaimed, closing my eyes and turning my head to the side to hide my smile.

Suddenly, I felt his arm slide under my legs and another on my shoulder.
I snapped my head up to look at him, but he had already scooped me up in his arms.

"Oh, my goodness! Am I interrupting something? Should I come back later?" a voice interrupted us.

Aunt Kiara stood a few meters away, observing the scene. In fear of being dropped again, I clung to him tightly, threatening him.

"I swear, if you make me fall again, I'll kill you," I warned, gripping his neck even tighter.

He cleared his throat nervously.

"No, it's fine. You can stay. We were just..." he trailed off, unsure of how to explain.

"It's okay, no need to explain. I understand, after all, you two are newly married," Aunt Kiara said, gesturing with her hand as she sat on the couch.
