Agastya appeared to be in a precarious position.

If he moved forward, a tiger might devour him; if he stepped back, he could tumble into a well.

"I know you're aware, so please just give me an answer," I pressed on, noticing Agastya hesitating over whether to confide in me.

"Agastya, you truly don't grasp my feelings, do you? Imagine if Vani told you she was heading to her parents' place and disappeared without a trace for not just one night, but a staggering four days, with no calls or messages-not a single one. All that remains is the hope that she's alright." I paused to gather my emotions, sensing he picked up on my frustration. "And if you refuse to tell me, I'll just go to the police," I said, rising to my feet.

"No, please don't! Sit back down; I'll share what I know," Agastya replied, urging me to take my seat again.

"I didn't intend on revealing this because Adhrit somehow anticipated you would ask me," he admitted, scratching the back of his neck.

"Adhrit knew? So he is doing this deliberately?" I inquired, and Agastya shook his head.

"He isn't. The reason for him doing all this was the very reason he didn't want you to know. But I guess all this happened to have become a big deal to you so I am going to tell you," he remarked,
"You see, his father, Mr Singhania, has thought of making his adoptive younger brother, Itish Singhania, the next CEO of the company and making Adhrit the next CFO," he said, looking at me with a disapproving look on his face.

"Why is it like that? I mean we all know that Adhrit is well deserving to become the CEO," said Vani.

"Right, but Mr Singhania doesn't think the same. He has always been partial towards Itish in everything," he said.

"So why is Adhrit behaving the way he is?" I asked him.

"That's also because of his father, the next heir to the company will be announced today itself, the reason why his father has put him under pressure as he will also take up his place as the CFO of the company," he said
"He is not letting Adhrit have his way," he added.

"But Itish doesn't even have the skills to become one," Vani interjected.

"Moreover, just because Mr Singhania will say something Adhrit needs to oblige with it? I questioned and Agastya nodded his head.

"He knows no other way, he's determined to get what he wants. Failure is not in his dictionary. There are more reasons why Adhrit behaves this way, but if I spill the beans, he'll turn me upside down''' he explained, looking apologetic for not divulging more details.

"That's fine, I'll be meeting him today anyway," I replied casually, taking a sip of my coffee.

"Are you invited to the party?" Vani inquired, and I simply nodded.

"I work under the same company as Adhrit, and I've noticed that his position has been replaced by someone else. I knew something fishy was going on with the Singhanias, and it seems I was right," I said, feeling the frustration bubbling inside me but keeping it hidden.

"It's a lot to take in, but believe me, Adhrit is not pleased with the situation either. From what I've gathered, he might have a plan, but at the same time, he might not. I'm worried that if he doesn't stand up for himself, he'll be under his father's thumb forever," Agastya confessed, looking downcast.

"What worries me the most is if Mr. Singhania suspects Adhrit is outshining Itish, he might push Adhrit to rock bottom, and it won't be pretty," he added, leaving me speechless.

"I get it. I should go," I said as I stood up and left the cafe, ignoring Vani's attempt to stop me, with Agastya possibly intervening.

I approached my car and slid inside, letting out a deep breath as I attempted to sort through my chaotic thoughts, but all I could feel was frustration.
