I stepped into the sprawling mansion, the hour still early enough to feel the pulse of the night.

My time with Tara had stretched beyond the ordinary; I longed for her to unveil her thoughts.
To my relief, she chose to confide in me, sharing her challenging past instead of bottling it all inside.

The least I could offer was my unwavering support and comfort.
Even though I wished to stay by her side a little longer, she urged me to head home, reminding me of the late hour.

I just wanted to see her safely to her door, but she insisted that I go on ahead.

Hence, I found myself alone in the mansion, waiting for Adhrit, who I expected to arrive soon.

Yet, considering the tensions from earlier, he probably remained in a bit of a funk.

Today, I realized how accustomed I've grown to Adhrit's unpredictable but thoughtful gestures—each one tugging at a lovely string in my heart.

As I climbed the stairs, I resolved to reach out to Adhrit and apologize, realizing that my words may have gone awry earlier.

Just then, I dragged myself up the last step and spotted him at the top of the staircase, casually leaning against the wall with car keys in hand.

"Oh, you're home," he said, his gaze fixed on me.

"Yes," I replied as he nodded and stepped back.

"Were you going out?" I inquired, catching his gaze.

"Uh, yeah. I was worried you hadn't come back," he admitted, revealing his lingering concern for me despite his evident morning mood.

It saddened me that he hadn't grasped the true essence of my words.

As I glanced up, I noticed him retreating to his room, probably because I had remained silent.

What is wrong with me? I feel like I'm just complicating things further between us. Ugh! I hurried to my room and quickly freshened up, so rushed that I barely gave myself time to dry off properly.

The unease over not expressing my feelings to Adhrit weighed on me.

Stepping out of my room, I turned left and spotted Adhrit heading up the stairs to the floor above.

I had never been up there before; what could he possibly be doing?

I trailed behind Adhrit, a sense of urgency pushing me to catch up.

I needed to speak with him. He made his way to the terrace—a place I hadn't ventured to since arriving at the mansion.

But what could be drawing him there at this late hour?
What view awaited him in the darkness?

My curiosity heightened as I followed him, my heart racing with the possibilities.

As he stepped onto the terrace, I lingered at the entrance, mesmerized by the enchanting scene that unfolded before me.

The air was fragrant with the scent of blooming flowers, and the soft glow of lights illuminated the space beautifully.

It was a perfect setting, and I could understand why Adhrit chose this moment to be here—it likely offered an even more stunning perspective by day.

Lost in the charm of the terrace, I watched as Adhrit traversed to a more secluded area.

Confusion washed over me.

What on earth was he aiming to achieve by climbing higher?

My thoughts spiralled into panic, imagining the worst outcomes.
