"How did your exam go?" Asha inquired.

"It was terrible! I couldn't sleep a wink last night," Vani responded, and I chuckled at their exchange.

"What about you?" Asha turned to me.

"It went well," I replied with a smile.

"But you don't look tired at all," Vani remarked, narrowing her eyes.

"That's because I got a good night's sleep," I explained, and they both stared at me in confusion.

"You see, Adhrit helped me get some quality rest," I added, and they playfully nudged me.

"Ah, we can sense the romance in the air," Vani teased, causing Asha to burst into laughter.

Glancing at the clock, I realized it was already past 4 PM, and I needed to go; Adhrit might be waiting for me.

"Hey, I'm heading out since Adhrit and I have a date planned. Catch you later!" I announced as I started to walk away.

"Of course!" Asha replied.

"I want all the juicy details!" Vani shouted down the hallway.

This girl is something else, most delightfully.

I stepped out of the university gate, my eyes scanning the crowd for a familiar face, and when I finally spotted him, my heart skipped a beat.

He looked incredibly handsome in his sharp, formal attire.

It had been ages since I'd seen him dressed up, and it tugged at my heartstrings—how was it possible for him to look so good in formals?

But then I wondered, why on earth was he all dressed up for a date?
I made my way toward him, noticing the other students nearby, all whispering about how great he looked, showering him with compliments.

I couldn't blame them; honestly, I would have been doing the same, and I just complimented him too.

As I approached, he noticed me and came forward with a casual greeting.

"Sana," he said, smiling, though it felt more like a polite gesture than anything sincere.

Something felt off. "Why are you in your formals?" I inquired, but he looked away, avoiding my gaze.

When he finally spoke, his eyes flitted to the people around us, seemingly interested in our exchange.

"Let's talk inside the car," he suggested and opened the door for me.

I climbed in, and he closed it behind me before taking his seat and starting the engine.
After five minutes of silence that felt heavy in the air, I couldn't help but break it.

"You still haven't answered my question," I said, looking directly at him.

He sighed in response. "I'm sorry, but I don't think we can go on a date today," he admitted, a part of me anticipating this outcome.

"Sure, we can plan a date for later," I replied, watching him glance at me before turning his attention back to the road as he manoeuvred the car into a safe parking spot.

"I'm sorry, but I have some urgent matters to attend to," he said, rubbing his face in frustration.

I gently placed my hand on his arm. "Is it about your father?" I inquired, and he shook his head.

"A little, but it's also about my responsibilities," he admitted, taking my hand in his.

"I have something significant to take care of."
