"Take your hands off my wife!" Adhrit thundered through the corridor.

There was a palpable shift in his presence; it felt as though he was the centre of a storm, flanked by a group of men, while a woman in formal attire stood nearby, looking like she belonged at his side.

Whatever was happening, I felt a surge of relief that he had returned.

"Your what?" Alok spat, rage evident in his voice.

"So, I was right. You're married to Adhrit Ray Singhania," he hurled that accusation at me, his grip on my arm tightening to a painful degree as he unleashed his fury.

Tears welled up in my eyes, but there was no way I was going to let him think he could crush everything I held dear without a fight.

Just as I prepared to speak, I noticed Adhrit move closer, positioning himself beside us and gripping Alok's wrist.

"Take your hand off her. Stop hurting her!" Adhrit commanded, his tone colder than I'd ever heard.

Alok let out a derisive laugh, glancing behind him, and I could feel the tension rise; he was considering summoning guards, just as he had done with Itish.

A quick look at Adhrit revealed a simmering intensity in his gaze as if he were ready to unleash his fury on Alok.

"I don't like repeating myself," Adhrit stated firmly as he swiftly removed Alok's hand from my shoulder with just one hand, pushing him away.

I stared at Adhrit, taken aback by his sudden assertiveness. Alok grabbed a nearby chair to steady himself.

"Are you alright?" Adhrit asked concern etched on his face as I nodded in response.

He then turned his attention to Alok.

"What's so shocking? Did you think I'd be an easy target just because I didn't have my father's support? Unfortunately, you didn't realize that those like you should know that having a backup plan is always wise, especially when it pays off in the long run," Adhrit challenged, stepping closer to Alok.

Alok averted his gaze.

"Just leave. I don't want to see your face, and I certainly don't want you near my family or my wife again," Adhrit declared, prompting Alok to rise and walk away.

I felt a pang of disappointment at Alok's departure; despite his actions, I believed he deserved more consequences.

I lowered my gaze, grappling with the turmoil in my heart, knowing that no one was aware of the harm he had caused me and others.

He always seemed to escape unscathed, and my frustration with him and his behaviour was overwhelming.

Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly felt a pair of hands encircle me, accompanied by the familiar scent of cologne that filled the air.

Adhrit had one hand resting gently on my head while the other secured my waist, leaning down slightly to embrace me.

I could see over his shoulders, and a wave of warmth washed over me as I returned the hug, feeling a deep sense of happiness at his return.
With him here, I felt a strong sense of security.

"Are you okay?" he asked, still holding me close, and I nodded in response.

"Now that you're here," I replied, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"Are you alright, sister-in-law?" Itish's voice came from behind, prompting Adhrit to release me.

I turned slowly to face him.
