As I sat in sister Akriti's office, I couldn't help but still be amazed by the fact that Adhrit referred to me as his wife and trusted me completely.

The joy I felt was overwhelming, and it had already been three days since he said those words.

However, I hadn't informed my grandfather about the company yet.

I wanted everything to settle down before sharing the news.

Thankfully, things seemed to be going smoothly. Lost in my thoughts, I sat there with a pillow in my lap, daydreaming about our future together.

Suddenly, sister Akriti entered the room with a smile on her face. "Hello, daydreaming in the morning?" she asked cheerfully. I looked at her and returned the smile.

"You should, though. Adhrit and Gina have been a big help to you," she said as she settled into her office chair.

I nodded slowly, not particularly thrilled at the mention of Gina's name.

Curiosity sparked in Sister Akriti's eyes as she leaned forward. "Can you tell me what happened that day when you saved Gina? I heard that Adhrit himself came to visit when he found out about her miscarriage and protected her," she asked, genuinely interested.

I let out a fake laugh.

"No, he didn't come for Gina. He came for..." I stopped myself mid-sentence, realizing that revealing the truth would only lead to more questions.

I decided to skip that part.

Sister Akriti grew impatient. "Stop beating around the bush. People are already talking about their fairy tale romance," she said, clasping her hands together. I couldn't help but scoff.

"I bet they still have feelings for each other," she added.

I questioned, "How can you be so certain?"

"They were expected to become engaged. You know how much people admired them as a couple. If they do reconcile and get married, I believe they will revolutionize the corporate world," she replied.

Her words made me feel uneasy; perhaps she was correct.

Adhrit deserves someone like her by his side, not someone like me who needs his protection and assistance.
She can support him through anything, but I cannot.

"I think as you saved Gina, she helped you, and Adhrit simply tagged along," she said, her smile shining brightly.

However, at this moment, that smile seemed more like a mockery, reminding me of the countless times I imagined Adhrit uttering those words.

I looked down, unwilling to hear any more, as it would only inflict further pain upon my already shattered heart. I had once again placed too much hope in this marriage of convenience.

"What did you need me for?" I inquired.

"Oh, yes! You asked me to investigate the person potentially responsible for your maid's daughter," she replied. I nodded in confirmation.

"After looking into the matter, I found out that a woman named Sarah, who is a close friend of Gina, was with Adhrit at the party hosted by the Malhotras," she explained.
"It seems that Sarah was the one driving the car that day under the influence of alcohol. She hit the victim and fled the scene. However, Sarah managed to remove her name from the accusations with the help of her connections. The question remains, why did she involve you? The person who removed her from the accusations was likely the one who implicated you," she concluded. I nodded, as I had already suspected this after Adhrit mentioned Sarah.
