"i think you should stfu and die."

Today, we have a class with Hagrid. We're learning about a big bird with horse legs. I wasn't paying really attention when he said what it is.
Hagrid explains something that we're supposed to do, but once again, I'm not paying attention. We all walk into the forest to a clearing where the giant bird is tied to a tree. Draco, Maky's brother, is picking fun at Harry with his friends Crabbe and Goyle. I roll my eyes and sit on a rock, reading my book.
Draco and his friends pull their hoods up and pretend to be dementors. Hermione pulls Harry away, rolling her eyes.
Preston, another one of Maky's brothers, walks into the clearing, sideswiping Draco with his shoulder. Maky watches as she walks down the hill with Cedric. Rolling her eyes, she picks up Draco's things from the ground, saying, "You're an asshole, Draco Malfoy, but you can't be like him," she turns her head to Preston, who isn't even paying attention. "He's worse than you ever should be." She stands up, Draco as well. "Promise me you'll only be an asshole, not a dick."
"What if I am a dick?" he asks.
"Bullies are assholes, users are dicks."
'Who says I'm not a user?"
"If you ever do more than bully someone, I will treat you in the most horrible way for the rest of my life."
He gulps, "Okay, then."
"Alright!" Hagrid stomps into the clearing with glee. "Who wants to go first?"
Harry went first. It took him flying in the sky! Thank Merlin I didn't go. That gray, bird—horse—thing scares me.
"Who's next?" Hagrid asks as he pulls Harry off of the bird.
I walk over to Maky and whisper, "You should do it, you're good with animals."
"I'm good with cats—"
"And snakes!" I quickly shout, "Makayla wants to go!"
Makayla
I squint my eyes in embarrassment. Should I have known that was going to happen? Yes. Did I let it happen anyway? Of course I did.
"Great! Step on up, Makayla," Hagrid says.
I take a deep breath, open my eyes, and walk toward the bird. Everyone's eyes are glued on me, and some people have let out a few minor laughs. This is as scary as what I thought the sorting ceremony would be like.
"Bow down," Hagrid says. I do that. It feels as if I'm bowing for a whole century before it—Buckbeak—finally chooses to bow as well. "Wonderful!" he exclaims as I stand up straight and slowly walk up to it. "You ready to ride 'er?"
"Excuse me?" I ask.
Before I can get more information, I'm picked up by my shoulders and places on Buckbeak's back and am holding on for dear life as Hagrid taps the bird's ass and it flies into the air with me on it.
I'm terrified at first, but then I open my eyes and see the land below us. There's so much going on to keep up. I try my best to memorize what I see so I can save the view for later.
Sooner or later, I get comfortable and am able to untense my body and embrace the wind blowing into my face. It's cool and refreshing.
I squeeze my legs in as Buckbeak closes in on the clearing to land. When we finally do land, I am greeted by the applause of multiple people. I don't know how Harry did that. It was terrifying in a beautiful way, which made it more scary.
