I have been lied to. I've been lied to for a very long time. Ever since I walked into that train car, I was being lied to. Was Jordyn a Death Eater too? I wouldn't be surprised. Jordyn and Makayla always did everything together—at least, until I came along.
I noticed that when I started hanging out with them more, I started seeing less of Jordyn and more of Makayla. It surprised me because Louis described them to be such great friends. Jordyn only tagged along to get the Sorcerer's Stone because she barged into Makayla's room after hearing Louis and I arguing over my safety. Sometimes I wonder if I should have just let Louis be my big brother and not let me go play hero.
I can't help but feel guilty at the fact that Makayla spent so much time with me over her. Mainly because I know how close they were prior to my school year here. They were literally best friends. If I hadn't been slacking off in Transfiguration class, Makayla would still be a snobby, stuck-up Slytherin and Jordyn would still be breathing. Louis wouldn't exactly be happy if that were to happen, though. He's in love with her. Anyone can tell. He literally cried in my arms a month ago just at the thought of her being alone.
I have to pity him, for he is my brother. Seldom is it that I don't wish the best for him, even though he is a pain in my butt for a plethora of my life. He believes that his best is with Makayla and I'm starting to think that is not the case.
"The Dark Mark on her arm is a colossal elephant in the room and it needs to be removed," my father shouted in an argument with my brother a few days ago.
Father and Louis have been having a harder and harder time getting along with each other. They've been arguing more about who's side of the war they really are. It scares me.
Louis has been acting more and more and more and more like he'd genuinely choose Voldemort's side. All for Makayla! He's going insane. He hasn't spoken to Makayla in a light manner since their fight and now she's evil. He wants to see her again and has admitted to being willing to do anything in his power to do so. Father hasn't taken this lightly, obviously. Louis' views are starting to become barbaric. I'm worried he'll make a decision he can't undo.
"I'm not going to just forget her!" Louis shouts back. "I'm in love with her!"
"You're in love with her!" Father scolds. "That's exactly your issue! You know who also loved Makayla Malfoy?" Louis is about to argue again before Father continues. "Cedric! Jordyn! Sirius! Hell, even Kai!"
This sends a silence through the room, Louis' eyes on the floor. Deep down, I think he knows that he needs to forget Makayla, for all of our sakes, but we all know he doesn't want to.
There's not enough time to react before we hear voices outside. Deatheaters. Crap.
Father stops in the middle of his sentence to glance out the window. His angry expression falls as he mutters, "Go to the basement."
"What?" Louis spits.
"Go to the basement. Protect your brother and sister," he explains sternly, letting the gravity of the situation sink into Louis's skin. "When you hear me yell, lay both your hands on the trunk in the back left corner. It's a portkey and should transport you to safet—"
"Father, what's going on?" I ask, fear causing my voice to tremble.
"The Deatheaters' ears were burning," Father explains vaguely, but that's all I need for my eyes to widen as Louis rushes upstairs and comes back within seconds with a sleeping Christopher. He grabs my hand and we are running downstairs. I shut the door behind us just as the front door bursts open.
Desperately, we reach the chest in the corner, awaiting Father's scream. We wait and wait and wait. It's obvious that there's fighting going on, but there's no 'yell' to be heard. Louis' hand tightens on mine slightly and I slowly turn toward the opposite corner of the room, a Deatheater staring at us. My breath catches in my throat and I don't know what to do. Slowly, it starts approaching us. Louis tries to pull me to the corner with the chest, but his hand is suddenly too sweaty to hold a grip. Panic strikes and I'm frozen in place. The Deatheater reaches out as Louis shouts out, "NO!" But he is too late. The Deatheater grabs my arm and then I am in somewhere I don't recognize.
I've been taken.
