Makayla

I'm walking through the halls, nose stuffed in a book. I'm not exactly paying attention until I accidentally bump into Louis. Before I get the chance to apologize, he screams like a little girl.

"What the—" Annie, who's next to him, starts, quickly restarting her sentence when she realizes what happened. "Louis, you're an actual child."

I stifle a laugh but quickly shut up when Louis exclaims, "That's not funny!"

"It kinda is," Annie says.

"It was hilarious," I add.

He's silent for a moment before saying, "I don't like you guys."

"No," Annie agrees. "You actually love her!" She sees my confused expression and says, "He said it himself! Anyway, I'll leave you two love birds alone. No funny business!"

Before we can react, she skips off.

"What was that about?" I ask, laughing slightly.

He chuckles, leaning against the wall behind him. "Maybe that night we shared in the Room of Requirement last year and then how she, you know, knew the morning after."

My eyes widen at the memory of the kiss, my cheeks flushing for a moment before I recompose myself. "Oh," I say, "right—that..."

He chuckles again and nods. "That..." There's a moment of silence before he clears his throat and asks, "So, um, how have you been?"

"Uh," I nod, "I've been good! You?"

"I've been alright. Annie's been annoying the hell out of me, though."

"Well, that's not really surprising," I say, laughing slightly.

Note from Annelise: HEY!

"It really isn't," he says, sitting on a window seal. "She could've annoyed you or someone else. I'm starting to think she has no friends."

"Well, that's mean," I say playfully as I lean against the wall that borders the window Louis is sitting on.

"It's honest. I never see her with anyone besides you or me."

"Well, she was friends with Jordyn," I point out.

"Okay, true..." he mumbles. "But still—that's sad."

"I also saw her hanging out with Jamie and Mattheo at Slughorn's party," I shrug.

Louis quickly changes to a stern expression before he firmly asks, "What?"

"Uh," I stammer, trying to backtrack, "forget I said anything."

"No—no no no—" he starts, "she was with the Riddle boys?"

"Yeah, but it wasn't like they were doing anything!" I exclaim.

"Did they sneak off?" he asks. "Disappear?"

"Well, probably not!" I explain. "I saw her after my brother beat you—"

"Alright, that's enough," he laughs.

I smile as he laughs. At this moment, I'm starting to realize that his laugh is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. If he laughed in some sort of play or musical production, I would pay to see it over and over again just to hear it. Him being in the production is just a bonus. Shit, what am I even saying right now?

"Uhm, anyway," he murmurs. "Are you doing anything right now?"

"No, why?" I ask.

"Would you like to—potentially—go with me to the Astronomy Tower?"

I smile and fold my arms across my chest before asking, "Are you asking me on a date, Louis Lupin?"

He returns the smile, "Maybe I am, Makayla Malfoy."

My smile grows as I nod, "Well, I don't see why not."

His eyes widen. Clearly, he didn't expect me to accept so quickly. "Wait—really?"

I nod once again. "Yeah. I'd love to go out with you."

He smiles and starts getting excited and awkward. "I—uh—" he stammers. "Great!"

Louis

I'M TAKING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE OUT ON A DATE TODAY. WHAT?

Honestly, I cannot put my feelings into words. I didn't expect her to actually say yes?

Currently, we're walking to the Astronomy Tower. I open the door for her and follow her inside. Lord, if this is a dream, don't wake me up.

The date goes well. Now we're just watching the stars together. It's peaceful. I love peaceful.

"Makayla?" I ask.

"Yes, Louis?"

"So, when are we kissing again?" I quickly ask, using the sudden burst of confidence I obtained when she said yes to the date in the first place. "It's been a hot minute, Makayla!"

She busts out laughing, "You addict!"

"A year is far too long to keep a guy waiting, Makayla!"

"How long are you willing to wait between kisses then?"

"Twenty three hours."

"That's not even a whole day!"

"Exactly!"

"So you're telling me that you need to kiss me every single day?" she asks.

I don't even hesitate. "Pretty much, yeah!"

"You know that's something couples do, right? Not people who just kiss every once in a while."

"Then why aren't we a couple yet?" I ask suddenly. Her shocked reaction reminds me to think over my words, but I don't regret a single thing yet.

"Are you serious?" she murmurs.

"Dead serious," I say firmly.

Note from Annelise: I don't know if that was intended, but that was hilarious.

After a moment, she smiles and stammers. "O-okay then—"

I perk up. Am I on Liquid Luck or something? Why is today going splendid? "Wait," I start, "are you serious?"

She nods, "Yeah, let's be a couple."

"Really?" I ask again, uncertain on if I should believe her. "Like, you aren't joking?"

"Do I need to give you what you want for you to believe me?" she snorts.

I smirk slightly as my gaze trickles down to her lips. "Maybe," I murmur.

She rolls her eyes as she leans over and plants her lips on mine. I immediately respond, gently pressing my lips forward and cupping her cheek in the palm of my hand. Dear God, I do not want this to end.

It definitely did not end quickly.
