"i know that you've got daddy issues, and i do, too."

I send Makayla and I to a random forest I picture in my mind. I'm sure that Makayla does not feel like seeing the other Deatheaters at the moment.
When I glance around for Makayla, I see her sitting against a tree with her head in her knees. She's crying. I knew she was crying before we apparated, but it still feels weird to see her doing it in real time. It almost feels unnatural.
She flinches at the sound of a roar.
"What was that?" she asks, her voice terrified.
I pull my wand out of my pocket and mutter, "I don't know... Can't be anything good, though."
She glances up, her tears glistening on her cheeks from the light of the sun. I glance up as well. Above us flies a dragon. It's black and large, disappearing quickly as it passes the opening in the trees that we sit below.
"Dragons?" I whisper. "Where are—"
"I know what that is..." she mutters.
I look at her. Her eyes are widened as if I'd just stabbed her.
"You sent us to the Hebrides."
"Isn't that—"
"Where the dragon I barely survived in the TriWizard Tournament came from? Yep. Exactly the place, Mattheo."
I feel my heart start to race. Are we gonna die?
"We aren't going to die, Mattheo," she groans. I hate that she can read minds. "I heard that."
I roll my eyes, "How are we going to get out of here?"
She looks at me as if I just said the dumbest thing she's ever heard since Draco was born. "I dunno... Maybe the same way we got here?"
"Oh yeah!" I laugh and rush over to her, extending out my hand. "Sorry about that."
She rolls her eyes and takes my hand before I apparate us away.
After many, many, many failed attempts to find a safe place to go, we finally find something.
"This is a library," she says, annoyed.
"You're a nerd, you can figure something out."
She rolls her eyes and just sits on a chair and grabs a book from the shelf. As she flips through the pages, I quietly pull my phone out of my pocket and open it to see thousands of messages from Ann. Oh gosh...
'WHERE ARE YOU?!' one reads.
'ARE YOU A DEATHEATER TOO?!' says another one.
'WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!' she says in one other message. The message below that one reads, 'WHY WOULD YOU HIDE MAKAYLA BEING A DEATHEATER FROM ME?! I THOUGHT WE WERE DATING?'
I sigh and just click the power button before slipping my phone back in my pocket. Unfortunately, though, Makayla's eyes catch the phone just before it disappears into the pocket.
"What was that?" she asks.
I freeze. Crap. "Nothing..."
She stands up and pulls the phone out of my pocket and looks at it. "You have a phone?" she shouts.
"Shhh!" I whisper. "This is a library!"
"I couldn't give a damn if I wanted to! Why do you have a phone? This is muggle stuff!"
"And...?"
"Where in the hell did you get this?" I'm silent for a moment and she rolls her eyes. "Damn you, Annie," she mutters under her breath. She raises the phone in my face and waves it around annoyingly as she hisses, "We're not allowed to have Muggle Technology, Mattheo!"
"And since when are you a rule follower?" I snap back. "You've broken every rule in the book as I recall."
After a moment of silence, she sighs and looks at the phone screen, tapping it for a moment, but it stays black. "...How do you turn it on?" she grumbles.
I roll my eyes and take it from her hands before hiding it back in my pocket. "I only use it to talk to Ann and..." I trail off as I realize that I'm about to piss her off. "Nevermind."
"Ann and who?" she asks. "Mattheo, you better tell me before I use the Imperious Curse on—"
"Louis!" I groan. "I talk to Louis sometimes as well..."
She freezes. That's odd. Not the reaction I expected.
I notice the contemplation roaming her face as she hesitates, as if she has words clinging to the tip of her tongue. Her mouth opens then shuts as she seemingly swallows the lump in her throat. Someone managed to silence the great, unsilencable Makayla Irma Malfoy. I'm that person. I'm not sure whether to be prideful or nervous.
A small, shaky sigh falls from her lips before she mumbles, "What have you told him...?"
I'm silent for a moment before quietly replying, "Nothing apart from the news about Kai's passing, and that wasn't even over the phone. That was the night we arrived at the Burrow. I haven't told him anything else that you wouldn't tell him."
The tension falls from her shoulders and she nods as her fingers wipe something from the corner of her eye before flicking it away. She clears her throat before murmuring, "I suppose we better get home, then..."
I nod. "Are you sure that you're ready to face anyone in that manor right now?"
She sighs. "I might as well get it over with. It's not like they're going to have me stay home from Hogwarts anyway."
"I'd be pissed if my father made me stay home on my last year of Hogwarts," I chuckle, trying to lighten the mood.
"Well, you'd be pissed if you had my father as a father."
"I guess we both have the worst possible father to be born with," I sigh, looking at my feet. "I've met your father, I know that he sucks."
"Your father is Lord Voldemort," she snorts, "I doubt that your life is any different than mine. Lucius Malfoy just does more than manipulate. You've seen it. He gets violent with all of his kids. It make me sick."
"Believe me, Makayla, I've been trying to ask my father to do something about it, but—"
She shakes her head quickly, "The Dark Lord isn't going to do anything. You can't get much more morally twisted than he already is, so there's no point in trying to get him to understand that hitting a child isn't okay."
I sigh, "I wish you were wrong."
"When am I not?" she jokes halfheartedly as I roll my eyes.
"Let's go see what awaits, I guess," I groan as I lend my arm out.
"I swear, if I hear Jamie's scrawny voice the moment that we get there, I'm gonna use an Unforgivable Curse," she mumbles before putting her hand on my arm. Immediately, I apparate us out of the library, taking us back to Malfoy Manor, already knowing what's expecting us, but not wanting to deal with it quite yet.
