Nora
Today is the first day at Hogwarts and, oh my gosh, I'm so excited! I got to ride in the train with Ann, Christopher, Louis, and Makayla and I got to know more about the Lupin siblings, apart from Christopher. Christopher is my best friend, so we know everything about each other.
After the train ride, Makayla and I were separated. The first years were sent to the boats, following a giant that Makayla called Hagrid., and the rest of the students took carriages.
The castle is beautiful. We're currently in self-rowing boats, going toward the school I shall be attending for the next eight years. In my boat are Christopher and a girl named Penelope. I've never seen her before and she refuses to tell me her last name, but I don't mind.
Eventually, we climb off the boats and enter the castle. An old and wrinkly lady tells us to wait outside of the Great Hall before walking in herself.
Everyone stands there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Some people just start talking to each other, so I quickly follow, turning to that Penelope girl.
"So what's your life like?" I ask.
"Not very exciting to be honest. My father is busy a lot because of him being the king," she replies.
I feel my eyebrows furrow at that. "King?"
"Yeah! The king of Emberfall."
My eyebrows furrow even more as I ask, "What the heck is Emberfall?"
"You don't know what Emberfall is?"
"No? This is Scotland, ma'am."
"Oh... Oh! Right, sorry. My father and I sometimes nickname countries..."
Well that's weird. Is she dyslexic or something? I don't say anything as the old lady walks back out into the hall, opening the giant doors for us. All the first years walk into the Great Hall, taking in the sight of it all. Everyone is astonished and surprised, having never seen the Great Hall, or any of the castle for that matter. It's their first time seeing anything like it. Not for me though.
Over the course of Makayla's time at Hogwarts, I have visited four times. I didn't visit last year because of what happened with the Weasley guy so early into the year. Father said that they didn't want to risk it, but I feel like it was for some other reason.
The second we're in the Great Hall, I'm not taking in my surroundings. Instead, I'm looking for my siblings. I spot Kirsten at the Ravenclaw table, which, for this year, is the middle table on the right. Then I spot Chase at the Hufflepuff table, which is on the outer right side of the room for this year. At that same table is my cousin Keyanna. She's lived in Russia for so long that I forgot what she looks like. Thankfully, she moved back to Europe.
Next I look at the Slytherin table, which is on the inside left side this year, where most of my family is. I smile as I see Draco, Kai, Makayla, and Preston. They're all watching me as us first years make our way up to the front of the hall.
"Alright!" the old lady exclaims. "Here's how the house sorting will go. There are four houses: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. When I put the hat on your head, it will sort you into your personalized house. These are by who you are, not what you think you are."
The first person called is Christopher. He glances at me nervously before walking up and sitting on the stool next to the lady. Startling Christopher, the hat starts to talk.
"Hm... Another Lupin, eh?" the hat mutters, its voice raspy. "What are the odds? I wonder where to put you... You're kind and compassionate, just like your sister, but also daring and fearful like your brother... That only gives you one spot! Ravenclaw!"
He smiles as the Ravenclaws clap for him. As he walks over to the table, you can hear Louis shout, "I AM NOT FEARFUL!"
I laugh quickly before shutting up at the sound of the lady's voice again.
"Penelope! There's no last name..."
The Penelope girl walks up to the lady, sitting on the stool as she sets the hat on her head. Penelope isn't startled by the hat's voice as it says, "Oh... This is new... I know your mum and dad... You're nothing like either of them. Perhaps you're like your aunt. You're practically raised by her aren't you? I guess I must say... Hufflepuff!"
She smiles and runs over to the Hufflepuff table as all the Hufflepuffs clap for her. The lady then calls out, "Nora Malfoy!"
The entire room goes silent. Everyone is staring at me in anticipation.
I walk up, sitting on the stool nervously as the old lady sets the hat on my head. It immediately starts talking.
"Aha!" it exclaims. "I was waiting until I'd finally be able to meet you. The youngest Malfoy! How wonderful... I sorted your sister, so I know exactly what to do with you. Slytherin!"
I smile and jump up, running over to the Slytherin table as they all clap. The first person I go to is Makayla, hugging her immediately.
"I'm so proud of you Nora!" she exclaims with a smile as we both pull out of the hug and sit down.
I smile sheepishly as I glance at Louis, the love of my life. His hair is so pretty and his eyes are the perfect shade of brown. Without even realizing, I start staring in awe.
Makayla snaps her fingers in my face to pull me out of my trance. She laughs.
I'm in Slytherin. I get to see Louis everyday. I am literally having the best day of my life.
