"you could be the greatest, you could be the best."
Makayla
I walk into the Great Hall, arguing with Louis over the same thing we've been arguing over since the Quidditch World Cup: the fight. He can't stop saying that Cedric deserved it, but he won't say why.
"I'm just saying that what he said gave me a credible reason to punch him," Louis says in an almost innocent tone.
"And break his nose?" I look at him as we walk down opposite isles to get to our seats at the Slytherin table.
"It was just an accident!"
I roll my eyes, laughing slightly as I sit down on the bench. Everyone is talking about what happened at the World Cup. Not the fight between Louis and Cedric, obviously, but the Deatheaters.
I glance around, looking for Ann and Jordyn. Suddenly, I find them sitting further down the table, having an intimate conversation with Theodore and... Preston, also known as my dickhead brother. Jordyn is talking to Theo, Ann is talking to Preston. I hate how easy she is to fool.
I look away from them and find myself with Draco and Grayson sitting on either side of me. Mattheo is sitting next to Louis. Gosh, I wish they had female friends so that I wouldn't be completely surrounded by... men.
"Are you guys okay? I heard about what happened at the Quidditch World Cup," Grayson asks, specifically to me. He sounds genuinely concerned and it causes Louis to look at him, really confused.
"Uhm—" I stammer, confused, "yeah, we're fine..."
Grayson nods and we all sit in silence. This is too awkward for my liking.
"Makayla!" Katelyn shouts from the table behind me.
We all look at her and Draco murmurs, "Who is that...?"
"Katelyn Scamander," I say as I stand up and walk to her. I'm sure that all of the Hufflepuff house is holding a grudge against Louis and I for the fight, but it won't stop me from talking to Betty, Chase, and Katelyn. "What's up?" I ask.
"Do you know anything about how they're doing on finding out what happened at the World Cup?" Betty asks.
I sigh, "I'm not sure, but I'm sure Dumbledore kno—"
Before I can finish my sentence, Dumbledore claps his hands for the room's attention. He introduces a Tournament called the Tri-wizard Tournament where the competitors will fight each other to win eternal glory.
I don't know about you, but I already have a plan for getting eternal glory. I don't need to win a cup.
Then, the doors open. Walking in is a school Headmaster I don't recognize. Who I do recognize, though, is Viktor Krum. I watch them 'perform' and one of the students blows fire out of his wand, the gulf of fire taking the form of a lion.
Another school walks in once those students sit down. It's an all girls school. I've heard of this school. It's Beauxbatons. A group of girls walk in, wearing matching blue dresses and hats. They perform an act of some sort of ballet before joining the other school in their seats.
I look up to the podium where all the teachers sit. They're quietly conversing with one another as the feast begins. A door that I've never seen opened before opens right before my eyes and Alastor 'Mad Eye' Moody peeks out, not fully entering the hall.
"Well, it's nice to see you for once!" Chase smiles. I feel a knot in my stomach, knowing that Chase and I were best friends before we got sorted. Now, more than ever, we never speak because of what our father did.
