Makayla killed Kai a week ago. We return to Hogwarts next week.
She has been in her room for days, not even leaving for food. I can tell that she isn't okay even though I haven't seen her face in so long. She just killed for the first time. And it wasn't just someone, it was him.
For the first time in forever, I see Makayla walk downstairs. She looks drained. It's as if she hasn't slept ever since she disappeared. The bags beneath her eyes are proof of that.
"Makayla?" Mother asks as she makes her way over to her. "What are you doing, darling?"
Her voice is quiet but not enough to be incoherent, "May I take a walk around the neighborhood alone please?"
When Mother glances at Father, who's sitting in the Living Room, he nods. Sighing, she reverts her gaze to Makayla and says, "Of course. Don't take too long."
She nods and walks out of the house. Everyone's thoughts tell me that I'm not the only one worried about her.
Makayla
I walk through the streets of the neighborhood, no children or sounds to be heard. A few leaves blow over the road, but there is nothing moving it except God and Aeolus. The lack of disturbance in the peace causes me to lose my focus and lower my guard. I am unsure if this is something I regret or am grateful for as a paper lands in front of me. When I pick it up, I am greeted by the words: 'Kill this boar for a special prize.' This is the most odd event I've ever come across. What prize is so special that you have to kill some normal boar in order to gain it?
At the weakness of my curiosity, I decide to go to the address on the paper anyway and see what's so cool about killing this animal. The walk is short and peaceful up until I reach the address. I'm greeted by a group of muggles and wizards, all dwelling together as they circle around something. I guess that it's the boar and I am proven correct when I break through the crowd to see what's going on.
When I look around, I see the faces of exuberant people, excited for the upcoming fights. I feel exhilaration start to bubble up inside me as well as I stare at the boar in the center of the crowd. This whole event has started to cause some sort of thrill as I watch it play out. Maybe it's a good thing that I came along, this seems like it'd be fun.
As people start taking turns on trying to kill the boar, I formulate many different plans for how I would go about winning this challenge. Should I use magic or should I make it fair? Muggles are here and I don't know if they are aware of the magical presence here or not. I can't take any risks, so I stick with muggle strategies.
Soon enough, it's my turn. The boar's location has been moved many times to the point where it isn't even at the center of the crowd anymore. No one has gotten close to killing it yet. Once the person before me gave up, it ran off into the woods. Great, now I need to follow it for no reason. No prize can be this worth it. Whatever. I follow it.
I glance around the dark woods, unable to really tell which direction I am going. When I look back in the direction I came from, I'm unable to even see the crowd of people anymore. Their cheers and screams are all starting to get softer and softer. I'm bound to run into this boar at some point. Right?
Suddenly there's a noise. Some snort of some kind. When I turn in its direction, I see two eyes in the darkness. The eyes are glowing. Whatever this boar is, it's magical for sure. The eyes seem to be like some sort of marble texture with only two colors: red and blue. They aren't offset versions of the two colors, but rather bright and extraordinary. The two colors contrast each other perfectly. Evil and good, black and white, for example.
