I stare out the window as Nora packs her bags on the overhead shelf. This is likely going to be the last time I'm ever on this train. I have yet to see the Lupins. Mattheo is here, but he's the only Riddle. Jamie is staying home, not wanting to risk having to see Annie and Mattheo snogging each other in the hall. Thankfully and unfortunately, Jamie probably had nothing to worry about.
Mattheo hasn't let me see his muggle phone for any possible sign that Louis is coming to Hogwarts this year. It's honestly starting to make me upset. That used tea bag has no right.
Nora sits across the table, reading the newest Daily Prophet. Her and that damned newspaper. God only knows what nonsense Rita has spewed in there this week. Sometimes I wish reporters were illegal.
I wait... and wait... and wait... and wait... until the train finally hitches as starts down the tracks. My heart stops and falls a few hundred feet as I feel the train move. I glance around, seeing no sign of Annie, Christopher, or Louis anywhere. No... Did I mess up that bad? To the point that they can't go to Hogwarts?
I ponder over the question as I stare out the window, my eyes fighting tears. I glance over at the front page of Nora's newspaper now that she's turned the page, and see Harry's face plastered on the front with the words 'UNDESIRABLE NO. 1' right above his picture. Before I can say anything to her, the train stops suddenly. When I look out the window, I see that we're not even near Hogsmeade yet.
The door then opens and two Deatheaters enter the train car. I watch as one random, stupid Gryffindor stands up and declares, "My father will hear about this!"
"Mate, will you shut up?" I mutter loud enough for the whole car to hear. The Deatheaters look at me and nod their head to ask me a question. I hear their voices eco through my head as they ask where Harry is. "He isn't here. Harry isn't dumb enough to return to school after you rampaged a wedding."
Just like that, the Deatheaters are gone and the train is back on its journey to Hogsmeade. As chatter starts to arise again, I let out the breath I was holding in that moment. Nora glances up from her paper and sighs.
"This year is going to be horrible, isn't it?" she asks quietly.
I nod for a moment before murmuring, "Unfortunately..."
"Well," she says amidst a sigh, "at least I'm spending this year with my favorite sister, am I right?"
I smile softly and playfully kick her foot beneath the table. "I'm sorry that Christopher won't be attending school this year."
She shrugs. "That's okay. I'm hoping that Penelope girl will return. Mattheo told me that Louis told him that she disappeared after saying random crap when everyone found Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower Courtyard."
"Oh, so Mattheo will tell you what Louis says to him, but he won't tell me?" I ask sarcastically, rolling my eyes as I turn back to the window.
"I think that he's just trying to protect you..." Nora mumbles. "I mean... if you had any idea what is going on for Louis right now, you'd do something stupid and—"
"What's going on for Louis right now?" I ask suddenly. "If it's so bad that I'd do something stupid, then you need to tell me now."
"It isn't bad, it's just that—"
"Nora, please."
"I can't... I—I swore an oath... I vowed..."
My heart pauses for just a moment. The entire world pauses. Nora knows how I feel about Unbreakable Vows after last year's events. Why would she trust it suddenly?
