Her private jet was just now landing in the small airport. It would still be a few minutes before Kara and Megan made their journey over here. She longed to see them again. Getting here was almost near impossible with her current work schedule, then there was lying to her friend about where she and Ruby would go. She usually made up a story about where she took her daughter during summer vacations but last night when she spoke to Lena before departure it felt different inside her stomach. She shook her head as she tried to forget the conversation.

"So where are you going to get your costume?" Lena asked. Sam remained silent for a moment. "Just a nice shop in Metropolis, hence why I need to take my jet." Sam replied. Lena looked over at Ruby who sat on the sofa texting someone on her phone. "Ok...well it is at your disposal, use it as you wish." Lena replied. "I'll be back in time for the gala don't worry." Sam said. "I know you will...I'll leave you to get going. Let me know when you're back in town." Lena replied with a smile. "I will." Sam replied. Lena left after that saying something about having to find a mask to match her costume.

The sound of a boat motor was heard roaring through the salt water catching Sam's attention. She looked up to see a familiar blonde driving her way. "Kara..." Sam whispered to herself. She watched the boat come to a stop and Kara hop out and tie it off before grabbing Megan and their bags. She couldn't wait any longer. Her feet began running down the dock towards the blonde. Sam leaped into Kara's arms and hugged her tight. "Sam!" Kara exclaimed happily. "How have you been?" Kara asked. "Busy...I had to lie to her again to make it here but I did it." Sam replied with a smile. "I'm glad you came. We're both ready. Megan's been talking about it for days." Kara replied.

"Hello darling. Are you ready to spend time with Ruby and Grandma?" Sam asked as she looked at Megan. "Yesh..." Megan replied with a smile. "Ok, let's get going shall we?" Kara replied. "Yes we probably should. I got you set up in the Four Seasons so it's close enough to everything without being conspicuous. Oh...and she thinks that you're my 'girlfriend' and that we met on line. Just a heads up." Sam replied. "So? Will we be putting on a show?" Kara asked. Sam cocked an eyebrow at her friend. "Only if you want to." Sam replied.

The walk to the jet was short and Megan was just happy to be carried in Sam's arms. Once they were on the jet and everyone was settled the pilot took off for National City once again. Sam and Kara spent most of the time talking about how they'd make it look like they were a couple while Megan slept in her seat wrapped in a blanket. "So? Will Lena have a date? Or is she as Alex puts it 'fucking Kara look alikes still?'" Kara asked. "No she stopped doing that a month or so ago. Well..you heard her confession the other night." Sam stated. Kara nodded along before relaxing in her seat.

"Don't worry. Eliza's coming tomorrow to pick the girls up then I'll take you to the hotel and go back to work and continue finalizing plans with Lena. And if she asks anything I'll make something up." Sam replied. "Oh I have no doubt that she'll ask questions. She always was a curious person. What am I supposed to do if she talks to me at the party?" Kara asked. "Use a fake voice. I can bring a voice changer from work and let you borrow it.  Or you could just not talk much." Sam replied. "I'll think of something. I'm no longer that nervous reporter I was all those years ago. Just because I haven't dated at all since having Megan...doesn't mean I don't know how to fake a conversation in a calm and cool voice." Kara replied.

A few long hours later the jet was landing in National City. It was dark out when they landed and Sam's private driver was there waiting for them. "Home Jordan. And do not breathe a word of this to Lena. Do you hear me?" Sam growled. "Understood Miss Arias." Jordan replied. The idea to Sam's house was short and everyone was happy to get there so they could sleep for some time.

Megan was set up in Ruby's room while Kara and Sam took to the master room sharing Sam's bed. "Who's in the spare room?" Kara asked. "Eliza...she came down while we were in the air." Sam replied. "Oh thats good. It'll be nice to see her." Kara replied as they settled in bed. "Get some sleep Kara...we have a busy couple of weeks and you still need a costume and mask." Sam replied as they lay back on the pillows.

Later that next morning Kara woke up to Ruby shaking her awake. "Auntie Kara! You're back! Come on! Mom and Grandma Eliza got brunch cooking! Megan's already been taken care of." Ruby said. "Ok! I'm up! And it's good to see you too Rubes!" Kara said as she pulled the now fourteen year old girl into a tight hug.

Kara entered the kitchen only to be engulfed in a tight hug from her sister. "Kara! Sam said you'd be coming." Alex exclaimed happily. "Yea...I came only because Sam sounded awful desperate." Kara replied teasingly. "Kara! It's good to see you again! Esme's missed you and her cousin." Kelly added as she hugged her sister in law. "And we've missed you too! It's good to be back...even if it's for a short time."Kara replied as she picked up her niece and hugged her before putting her back in the chair next to Megan. "Mom..." Kara said as she walked over to Eliza. "Hello dear! It's really good to see you. As you can tell everyone has missed you dearly. Do you ever plan on coming back to the states?" Eliza asked.

That was a loaded question. Kara took time to ponder over as she ate four plates of pancakes and two plates of sausages. "I think about returning once in a while. But I never considered returning to National City though. Perhaps Midvale or somewhere like that. But I'll see how I feel after this gala. Are you two going?" Kara asked as she looked at Alex and Kelly. "Yes we'll be there. As long as Eliza's ok taking Esme too." Kelly replied. "Of course I'll take her too. It'll be fun to have all my grandkids in one place." Eliza said with a smile.

After brunch Eliza loaded the kids into her car and headed off to Midvale. "Now...let's look at what costumes I bought you." Sam stated. "Well...we should be going. We'll come by the hotel later once you're settled in, maybe have a girls night?" Alex asked. "I'd like that. We can order potstickers and watch movies." Kara replied. "Ok...six ok? Sam?" Kelly asked. "I'll be there! I've been looking forward to one of these for a long time." Sam squealed as the four of them shared a group hug.

A few hours later Kara and Sam were arriving at the Four Seasons. Sam had rented the room under an inconspicuous name even splurging for a suite. "Sam...you didn't have to do all this for me." Kara replied. "I know I didn't but I wanted to. So enjoy it. You can go out of here if you want to...I also bought some everyday clothes for you too." Sam added. "Sam...." Kara groaned. "I know...I know...too much but I thought you'd get tired of being cooped up in here for a while. And with Eliza taking off the girls for the whole two weeks now instead of just the weekend, I thought this would be better." Sam stated.

Kara nodded in agreement. "Does she...go to Noonan's in the morning still?" Kara asked. "Not in three years. She began ordering her coffee off line and has it made in her office now." Sam replied. "Oh good! Cause I could really use an iced latte from there tomorrow morning." Kara said. Sam laughed at the blonde. "Ok...well I've got to go back to work...since I forgot to call Lena letting her now I was back. But I'll be back here tonight for girls night." Sam replied with a smile. "See you later Sam..and thank you for everything." Kara replied as Sam left the hotel room.

Kara set about unpacking her luggage and hanging things up in the small closet before she went out for an afternoon walk.
