Juliette POV
I awoke with a terrible stiffness in my neck. I did not even remember going to sleep. To my delight, this was the first time in months I had slept without nightmares. Without a potion, at least.
I did not recognize my surroundings when I first opened my eyes. A wave of panic rushed over me until I inhaled the scent of cedar and parchment.
Sebastian.
I inspected my pillow to find that my head was actually resting in Sebastian's lap. I was covered by a plush blanket, which must have been Sebastian's doing. I lifted the blanket to find his arm wrapped around my waist.
He stirred at my movements.
"Hey, you" he smiled lovingly down at me, brushing bits of hair out of my face. "Did you get some sleep?"
"Surprisingly, yes. You?
"A nice little cat nap" he said, stretching his arms over his head. He squinted at the clock on the mantle. "It's almost midnight."
"I should get back to the room. As comfortable as your legs are, I should sleep in my actual bed."
I desperately wanted to stay, but I didn't want to ask that of him. We only kissed, after all. Asking to sleep in his bed felt like 10 steps ahead.
"Merde. I still need to get the hippogriffs back to the vivarium. Where's my Nab Sack?" I sat up and searched the room for my bag and cloak.
"Oh I think you dropped it.. when... I'll get it." I felt my cheeks flush as he got up to open the door, revealing my cloak and Nab Sack in a pile where I had dropped them before getting swept up in our passions. He handed me my cloak. I reached for my bag but he held it just out of my reach.
"I'll carry this because I'm walking you to the floo."
"If we can make it to the floo this time" I teased, finally snatching the bag from his grasp. I got up on my toes and planted a kiss on his soft lips.
He pulled on my waist roughly, eliciting a squeal from me as I collided with his chest.
"Don't threaten me with a good time," he growled against my lips before kissing my ever-so softly.
A chill rolled down my body and my legs threatened to buckle beneath me. He truly could flip like a switch sometimes and I couldn't tell if I was scared or turned on.
He took me by the hand and into the corridor. I eyed our hands together then looked up at him, eyebrow raised.
"I don't care who sees," he brought my hand to his mouth and kissed my knuckles. "I'm not letting you go."
We walked hand-in-hand down the last flight of stairs of the faculty tower. I stopped in my tracks when I remembered what had brought me to the faculty tower earlier that evening.
"I need to go check on Rosalie!" I tried to turn to head back upstairs but Sebastian held my hand firmly to stop me.
"Jules, it's late. Hopefully she's still resting. I'll go check on her first thing in the morning."
He had a point. There was nothing I could do for her right now. Her broken leg needed more time to heal and she needed to rest after her she spent all her magic.
We walked in silence out of the faculty tower. It was past curfew, thankfully, so the corridor was deserted. I reached for the floo powder but Sebastian stopped me and took my hand in his.
"Jules, Can I take you on a date?" he asked, his voice was soft, almost pleading.
I could only stare at him. I opened my mouth to speak but found that I couldn't, I was breathless. Weren't we already beyond the whole first-date-thing?
