Now I know why all the trees change in the fall

I know you were on my side even when I was wrong

And I love you for giving me your eyes

For staying back and watching me shine

And I didn't know if you knew, so I'm taking this chance to say

That I had the best day with you today.

The Best Day

Juliette POV

I left Sebastian's office with as much dignity as I could muster and a very drenched pair of undergarments. I paced to the floo as casually as possible, weaving through the packed corridors and praying that there was no evidence of our crimes lingering on me.

I was not sure what had gotten into me. I was surging with energy, so much so I was surprised it was not flickering in my fingertips or swirling in my irises at every moment.

On the bright side, it meant Sebastian's 'cure' using my memories must have been working. My magic had not acted up in days, and my eyes no longer glowed during intimacy – much to Sebastian's dismay.

The same could not be said for my nightmares. We had decided I would continue to take Dreamless Sleep for the foreseeable future, not wanting to test the limits of my 'treatment' just yet. Sebastian, on the other hand, was surviving the nights without any potions.

It was safer that way,  as only one of us had the power to vaporize the other in their sleep.

I took the floo to Hogsmeade Square and realized it was my first time seeing it all decorated for the holidays since I was a student.

Wreaths and garlands adorned every windowsill and doorway. The one-man band played jolly holiday music with his arsenal of instruments. His band now included an enchanted cello, much to my delight. It was my favorite instrument.

Miss Rosalie Corben paced in front of the shop window, still dressed in her Slytherin robes, and waiting for me to join her. With each day that passed, Rose's anxiety seemed to be escalating to such a degree that it was practically radiating off her. I chocked this up to fretting over her exams, as she was more than prepared for the Yule Ball.

Her dance lessons had been going swimmingly, and we were moments away from picking up her gown.

Sebastian and I intended to start Pensieve sessions with her eventually, but felt it was not the right time. As a Prefect and prospective Head Girl, she had enough on her plate with examinations, the Yule ball, and not to mention her 17th birthday - which fell on the same day as the ball: December 23rd.

Rose and I had cut it close by choosing to delay our final fittings for the eve of the ball. They would have to be perfect, as twenty-four hours left no time for alterations.

Mr. Hill retrieved two large boxes from behind the counter and joined us in the fitting area, a semi-circle of posh chaise lounges with a platform at the center from which to model prospective garments. Rose insisted I try mine first, though I had the mind to let her go first and help put an end to her ceaseless fidgeting.

I slipped into my dress and emerged from the curtain, journeying to the platform at the center of the shop. I felt exposed, having so much of my collarbone on display. I imagined that was how brides felt when trying on gowns for the first time. Instead of my mother and closest friends to sob over me, I had one witty almost-17-year-old.
