I awoke from a dreamless sleep with a heavy arm draped across my waist. Sebastian lay next to me on his stomach, a wild mess of brown hair and his face smushed into the pillow. The blankets were bunched at his waist, revealing the sprawling eagle tattoo across his upper back.

Its outstretched wings spanned shoulder to shoulder. It's body sat right on Sebastian's spine, with its head at the base of his neck.

It was inked in black and white, with very fine and intricate detailing in the feathers. It must have hurt like absolute hell. I pondered what story or meaning it held for him.

I absentmindedly traced the feathers with my fingertips as I listened to the pitter patter of raindrops on my enchanted ceiling. I had asked Deek to ensure I always woke up to a light rain. I felt like it helped me sleep.

I intended to ask Deek to change it. Sebastian did not seem to care much for rain. In fact, he seemed a bit spooked by the storm that interrupted our date. I wondered what that was about. He had not been like that when I knew him.

I still had so many questions for the man lying next to me. I knew him as deeply as anyone ever had, save Ominis or Anne, but the years had changed things about him that I was still discovering every day.

It was as we were meeting again for the first time, building a new friendship within our romantic relationship. Or perhaps it was the other way around.

A sharp inhale alerted me that he was waking up. I smiled as his eyes fluttered open.

"Good morning." I kept my hand on his back, gently tracing his spine with my fingertips.

"Good morning, my love"

My love.

The new twist on my pet name sounded heavenly on his lips with his sultry, deep morning voice. My feet almost started kicking under the blankets.

"Sleep well?"

"When I'm with you? Always."

I could not agree more. I had found that the couple of nights we had spent together tended to be the most restful, when they were not interrupted. With or without the potion, something about falling asleep or waking up next to him assured me safety from my nightmares.

Perhaps there was some credibility to the professor's theory, after all.

He lifted his handsome face from the pillow and shot a questioning glance at my hand on his back.
