Juliette POV

I was relieved to see Rosalie when I looked out over Sebastian's sixth-year DADA class on Friday. Carina Parkinson looked equally relieved to have her friend back by her side. They were going over Carina's notes from all of the classes Rosalie missed that week, leaning in closely to one another and talking in excited whispers. Nicholas Malfoy couldn't help but glare at the pair from across the room.

I sat at Sebastian's desk in the front of the classroom, pouring over my lesson plans for the sixth-years as Sebastian leaned over the desk from the front.  It was my first day teaching one of my own lessons, with Sebastian assisting. He was pretending to be interested in my lesson plans when in reality his eyes never left my face.

"Will you go sit down or something? You're distracting me." I whispered to him without looking up from my notes. Thankfully the students behind him were chatty enough to drown out my voice, so only he could hear.

"You're the one that decided to come to my class dressed like that, Miss Fontaine. Who's distracting who?" he rasped, his brown eyes drifting to my chest momentarily.

The outfit he was referring to consisted of a black knee-length skirt and green button-down shirt. As always, I had a black silk scarf wrapped around my neck and tucked into the shirt collar to conceal my scar. I didn't see an issue with the outfit, other than the fact that I had intentionally worn green just to torment him, as I was looking forward to our date that evening.

"I haven't the faintest idea what you're referring to, Professor" I blinked at him a few times with an innocent smile.

He merely rolled his eyes and grumbled something about me being a 'little minx' before finally stepping away from the desk and turning to face the class.

"Please take your seats, and give Miss Fontaine your attention."

"Thank you, Professor Sallow." I stood and circled to the front of the desk, leaning against it as Sebastian took his seat behind me. "I know you are all eager to get to curse-breaking. We will get to that in due-time. Today we will be learning about a more obscure form of defensive magic. Who can tell me something about Legilimency?"

Miss Parkinson's hand shot up first.

"Legilimency is the act of penetrating and navigating through one's mind," she answered confidently.

"So, mind reading?" I challenged her.

"Not exactly. It's more complex. You must sift through a person's memories, thoughts, emotions and be able to interpret it correctly. The Sorting Hat uses Legilimency to assess a student's fit for the different houses."

"Correct on all counts. 5 points to Ravenclaw. How does one defend themselves against Legilimency?"

It was Rosalie who raised her hand next.

"Occlumency. Shielding one's mind from Legilimency, sometimes making your mind it clear or blank so that the Ligilimens is unable to find anything."

"Yes. And aside from defense against Legilimency, how might Occlumency be useful?"

"I believe it is because Occlumency also helps defend against the Imperius Curse, since it prevents your mind from being tampered with."

"Impressive. 5 points to Slytherin."

The pair of girls smiled at one another, excited that their knowledge had won points for their houses.

I hadn't expected sixth years to know so much coming into my lesson today. But these two spent all of their spare time either in the library or in Sebastian's office hours, so I should not have been surprised.
