Sebastian POV

"So let me see if I understand this - "

Our date had not even begun yet. Juliette stood at the entrance to the Forbidden Forest, arms crossed over her chest and a look on her face that said she had already had enough of my shit.

She was all bundled-up in a tan wool jacket, blue hat and matching scarf, adding to the adorableness of her protest.

"- You're taking me on a date in the Forbidden Forest, after dark, on Halloween weekend?"

"Isn't it brilliant?" I held my hands out in front of me present the forest to her, as if it were the most breathtaking scenery she had ever laid her pretty eyes on. "It's off school grounds. Most of our students will be at parties or at The Three Broomsticks tonight, and anyone in their right minds would steer clear of this place."

"What does that make us?"

"Come on, we're an Ancient Magic wielder and an ex-Auror. We are so much more dangerous than anything we could find in there." I extended my hand to her, pleading with her to just go with it.

She half-smiled and took my hand.

"Lumos

I led her across the creaky wooden bridge and into the pitch-black forest as she stubbornly stomped behind me.

We wove our way along the path, ignoring every WARNING and DANGER sign we encountered. Those were just suggestions, anyway.

The path eventually ended at a clearing, which contained a small lake.

I could not have asked for better weather. It was a cool, mostly cloudless night, allowing the moon to stream through the trees and reflect on the lake below. Sparse swarms of lacewing flies created dazzling constellations, just for us. The hoots of a few owls and the breeze rustling the tree branches were all that could be heard this deep into the forest.

"I haven't been here in ages..." she reminisced as she joined me at my side.

"You've been here befo-... You know what? Never mind. I don't want to know. Clearly you were getting into trouble more than I originally thought while we were in school."

I still could not believe that she had used Polyjuice to impersonate not just a professor, but the HEADMASTER. And to add breaking and entering on top of that. Between the two of us, I had always thought that I was the superior troublemaker. Perhaps I was just better at getting caught.

"You know full well I engaged in quite a bit of trouble," she teased. "It's not my fault you were always the one getting caught."

It's like she's in my head.

I pointed to the left, gesturing for Juliette to lead the way to our destination. I followed her only a few paces before she stopped abruptly. She extended her arms out in front of her, palms out as if against an invisible wall.

"There's a protective enchantment here." she craned her neck, a pensive expression on her face.

"You can sense the barrier?"
