Glass crunched under Lily's boot as she carefully navigated the abandoned pharmacy

Glass crunched under Lily's boot as she carefully navigated the abandoned pharmacy. The once pristine linoleum floor was now littered with shards of glass and scattered debris, evidence of past looting and decay. Sutton's birthday was approaching, and though Lily had never imagined searching for a gift in a place like this, the constraints of their new world had made such a search a necessity.

As she sifted through the remains of the pharmacy's shelves, Lily couldn't help but wonder if Sutton's birthday had already passed. Without a functioning calendar and with their sense of time so disrupted, it was hard to be certain. With the summer sun blazing high in the sky, Lily estimated it was nearing June, if not already upon them.

Much had changed since their time at the farm. Sutton's hair had grown out, the once-vivid blue now a mere memory. Lily had cut her own hair to a chin-length bob, letting her natural black grow in to replace the blonde she once had. Lori's pregnancy had progressed significantly, her belly now prominently round and high, signaling that she was nearing the end of her third trimester.

"What about this?" Daryl's voice broke through her thoughts. Lily looked up to see him holding a tiny red convertible, no larger than his palm. She laughed, shaking her head as he grumbled and put it back on the shelf.

"What the hell does she even like?" he asked, his frustration apparent as he continued to rummage through the disarray.

"Girly stuff. Hello Kitty. Anything blue or sparkly," Lily replied. She knew it was a long shot searching in the pharmacy, but their group had been on the move so frequently that this was their best option. Their current camp was set up in a small clearing, with the pharmacy and a nearby coffee shop being the closest buildings they could explore.

Time was of the essence. They had left as soon as the first light of dawn appeared, but Rick was pushing for them to get back on the road soon. Lily was starting to lose hope of finding anything worthwhile when she noticed Daryl grabbing boxes of various items and stuffing them into his bag.

"You're supposed to be looking for something for Sutton," she said, walking towards him.

"I am. Just making a pitstop," he said, showing her a stack of condom boxes.

Lily rolled her eyes, brushing past him. "I'm not seeing anything. We should get going before Rick leaves without us."

"I'm gonna check the back. Maybe we can find something in some houses on the way back," Daryl said, his voice filled with determination as he hopped over the counter. Lily leaned against it, keeping watch over the store.

As she scanned the aisles, a small orange box caught her eye, peeking out from Daryl's bag. Curious, she pulled it out and read the label with a snort. "Daryl!" she called out.

"Yeah?" he replied, still engrossed in his search through pill bottles.

"These are flavored," she said, holding up the packet.
