The ground beneath Lily quaked violently as one of the prison's guard towers was obliterated by an explosion. Debris rained down, scattering across the cracked earth. The Governor and his militia marched in with tanks, their relentless barrage turning their sanctuary into chaos.Lily's heart raced as she watched their home being torn apart. The scale of the destruction was staggering, and she couldn't help but wonder how long it would take to repair everything. If their plan even worked.
Clutching her weapon tightly, Lily waited with bated breath, her vision obscured by the helmet she wore. The din of explosions echoed from deep within the prison, a harbinger that the Governor and his forces were retreating. Taking this as her cue, she emerged from behind a makeshift wall, weapon raised, and opened fire. The cacophony of gunshots mingled with Glenn and Maggie's voices as they shouted at the enemy to leave and never return.
Andrea's warning rang true: most of the Governor's followers weren't fighters; they were the type to flee. And flee they did. As the last of the trucks retreated, Lily removed her helmet and sprinted towards her allies.
"We did it?" Maggie asked, her face illuminated by a hopeful smile.
"We did it," Glenn confirmed, nodding in agreement.
Lily turned to Daryl, who hurried over, his eyes scanning her for any signs of injury. "You hurt?" he asked, concern etched into his features.
"No, I'm fine," Lily assured him. "It worked. They're gone."
"Not for long. We should go after them," Michonne said firmly.
"We should finish it," Daryl concurred.
"It is finished. Didn't you see them hightail it out of here?" Maggie argued.
"I have to agree. They still got tanks," Lily said, her voice resolute.
"Exactly. If we give them time, they could regroup," Michonne reasoned.
"We can't take the chance. He's not gonna stop," Glenn insisted.
"They're right. We can't keep living like this," Carol added.
"So we take the fight back to Woodbury? We barely made it back the last time," Maggie said, anxiety in her voice.
"And most of his people aren't fighters. We just saw that. He probably won't even be able to get half of 'em to come back," Lily countered.
"I don't care. We gotta take 'em out," Daryl said, his resolve unwavering.
Rick agreed but suggested they take a moment to check on everyone else before devising a plan. Lily sighed but said nothing, rushing inside to find Sutton waiting with the others.
"Hey. You okay?" Lily asked, pulling Sutton into a tight hug.
Sutton nodded, her eyes wide with worry. "Are you? Did we win?"
