Night had fallen, casting an eerie glow through the prison windows as moonlight filtered in. The atmosphere in the cell block was tense, punctuated only by the distant echoes of the occasional creak or groan from the prison. Lily paced the narrow corridor, her heart racing as she anxiously awaited the return of Daryl and the rest of the group. The steps leading down from their small room seemed to stretch endlessly, each creak of the old wood amplifying her worry. As Lily reached the bottom of the stairs, she spotted Sutton meandering down the hall, her steps slow and unsteady. Lily's breath caught in her throat, and she rushed towards her daughter, her footsteps echoing off the stone walls.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Lily's voice was a mix of relief and panic, and she practically stumbled over her own feet in her hurry to get to Sutton.
"Nothing. I just wanted some more water," Sutton replied, her voice a tired murmur.
"Then why didn't you ask me or someone to grab it for you?" Lily sighed, her anxiety evident as she reached out to touch Sutton's forehead. She felt as if she might collapse from the stress, her heart pounding furiously in her chest.
"Because I can do it myself. I feel fine," Sutton said with a hint of annoyance, gently swatting her mother's hand away.
"Are you sure? You're not too warm?" Lily asked, her concern deepening. She pressed her hand to Sutton's forehead again, this time more insistently.
"Mom. I'm fine. I swear. Hershel said I was just dehydrated and tired," Sutton insisted, rolling her eyes slightly at her mother's overbearing concern.
"I know. But you can't be mad at me for being worried," Lily said, her voice softening, a trace of apology in her tone.
Sutton mumbled something under her breath as she reached the kitchen area to grab her water. "When's Daryl coming back?" she asked, her voice carrying a hint of unease.
Lily scoffed softly, a weary laugh escaping her lips. "Tired of my pestering already?" she teased, trying to lighten the mood. "Hopefully soon. If they don't want to move in the dark, maybe in the morning."
As Lily turned her attention to Axel and Beth, she noticed Axel's lingering presence in Beth's room. She rolled her eyes in frustration, walking over to overhear the end of their conversation.
"How old are you anyway?" Axel was asking.
"17," Beth replied, her voice firm but polite.
"Axel," Lily said, her tone sharp, causing Axel to startle and turn towards her with a sheepish grin.
"I'll be right back," he said to Beth, his smile fading as Lily grabbed his arm and pulled him out into the hall.
"No, you won't," Lily said, her voice icy as she shoved him outside. "You want me to cut your dick off?"
