"Y/n! I know you're worried about the shop, but you've gotta focus at least a little bit!" Hinata cried, jogging back to where to stood with the ball at his hip. You had tried to set to him, but you had accidentally thrown it too far forward. "I'm sure your cousin will do fine!"

"Shouyou, you don't get it!" You shouted. "Miguel has only been helping me out for, like, a month! I don't think he knows the difference between a socket wrench and pliers! He didn't even realise there was more than one kind of pliers! I love him, but he's a dumbass."

It had been a few days since you told Hinata about your scholarship, and the two of you had made sure to spend more time together before you left. While you had ways to communicate even after you left, you wanted to make sure to spend plenty of time with him before you left. He was your best friend here, after all.

"Wait, seriously...?" Hinata asked flatly.

You pursed your lips. "Seriously. I've spent years taking classes online to keep that shop open with my uncle. I know that he'll be able to whip Miguel into shape, I guess I just...I'm worried I'm making the wrong decision going back to Japan for college when there are people who need me here. Plus, I'm leaving you back here to practice on your own, and you need all the help you can get."

"Hey, I'll be okay!" He said, mildly offended by your statement. "And that's because you suck at keeping the ball straight." Hinata relaxed after that, though. He walked over to you and draped his arm on your shoulder, a bright smile on his face. Hinata's positivity never ceased to amaze you. Everytime he smiled like that, you knew he had found some positive you had never thought of before and never would be able to find after. "Don't worry about all of us over here! We're happy you're doing what you want to."

"Mamãe always looks so upset though," you told him. "She won't tell me, but she wants me to stay."

"You're mom has trapped me enough times I know exactly how she feels," Hinata told you. "Seriously, I think she just kind of adopted me at some point. Your mom has told me that she's worried, but she's also excited for you. She wants you to connect with both sides of your family. It's why she was so happy when I showed up."

You laughed, wrapping your arm around Hinata's side, pulling him into a mildly uncomfortable side hug. "Sometimes I think she loves you more than me, you know. One of these days I need to get your mom to share as much from you childhood as Mamãe has told you."

Hinata's expression flattened. "You wouldn't dare..."

   "Try me."

The two of you broke out into laughter, an action that made it feel like a weight had been lifted off your soul. You pulled Hinata into a real hug as your laughter died. "Thank you, Shouyou. You're always going to be family to us, okay?"

He hugged you back. "Couldn't get rid of me if you tried. Besides, I'll be back to Japan in a year or so too! At least, the plan is to stay here for another year. So we can see each other again then! Or I could come visit you."

"And take time away from beach volleyball?" You asked. "I couldn't make you do that. I'll come down here."

"Not if I show up without telling you I'm coming."

"I swear to God, Shouyou."

Hinata backed up, arms raised in surrender. "Fine, fine! I'm sorry. But I don't mind taking a day or two off to go and see you. Family is more important."

You smiled weakly at him. "Just knowing that means the world to me, Shouyou."
