➹THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE➷

Giovanni and Topaz were still wide awake, and they were on their third round. They did not feel tired at all.

"You are quite skilled. May I enquire about your technique?" Giovanni chuckled softly as he applied more chalk to the pool cue.

They have been engaged in a game of pool for approximately two hours and have successfully completed three consecutive rounds. There is no indication that they intend to cease their activity at present.

Topaz nodded in acknowledgement, genuinely impressed by Giovanni's unwavering dedication and profound passion for the sport of pool.

Giovanni positioned the pool cue shaft with a smile and hit the white ball with precision, successfully striking the red ball and landing it in the pocket. He now requires only two more red balls to be pocketed before proceeding to the black eight ball.

He prepared the pool cue for the second time and hit the white ball, which struck the red ball and caused it to land in the pocket opposite the one where the previous ball had been pocketed. He now has one red ball remaining.

"Would you mind if I take a short break? I would appreciate it if you could take your turn now." Topaz nodded with a polite smile. He applied more chalk to the pool cue, just as Giovanni had done before continuing the game.

Although Topaz lacked the expertise of Giovanni, he demonstrated considerable proficiency in his own right.

Topaz used the pool cue to strike the white ball, successfully hitting the yellow ball. However, it is unfortunate that the yellow ball bounced off the sides of the table and did not land in any of the pockets.

Giovanni let out a hearty laugh as he heard the frustrated groan of Topaz.

"I'm thinking of getting another drink. Would you like one as well?" Giovanni inquired politely, glancing at the time displayed on his phone's screen and noticing the numerous missed calls and messages from Lorenzo.

Topaz politely declined the request and proceeded to take a seat in the armchair situated in the corner of the room.

Giovanni nodded in agreement, carefully placing his phone into the rear pocket of his trousers. He then proceeded to exit the lounge, making his way down the staircase to the main floor of the nightclub. Despite the late hour, the establishment remained open, though a considerable number of people had departed since his arrival.

Upon reaching the bottom of the staircase, he let out a sigh and made his way to the bar. His intention was to order a drink that was even stronger than the previous one, with the hope of leaving his sober state behind and temporarily quieting the thoughts in his mind.

He was not only on the verge of losing his sobriety, but his fatigue also prevented him from concentrating on the faces of people or his surroundings, causing him to accidentally bump into someone who was seated at the bar.

"Could you please be more cautious?" The individual politely turned around to address Giovanni. Upon recognizing him, they displayed a look of astonishment and distress.

Giovanni straightened his posture and looked intently at the individual who had addressed him in such a disrespectful manner.

"Excuse me, but could you please be more respectful in your tone when speaking to me?" Giovanni enquired, but they did not respond. Instead, they apologized and hurriedly exited the nightclub, even tripping over themselves in their haste to leave.

Giovanni watched them as they ran away from him, and he was puzzled.

He did not recognise their face, but it appeared that they recognised his, as there was no other reason for them to flee.

Giovanni appeared unconcerned and proceeded to order another drink, seemingly unaware that someone from one of the nearby booths was observing him.

"It has been quite some time... my dear son."
