"The fare will be thirty-six pounds and five pence, please." Giovanni retrieved his wallet and presented the taxi driver with two twenty-pound notes.

"Please keep the change." He informed the taxi driver who expressed gratitude and, as before, assisted them with their belongings.

The unfamiliar individual from the previous encounter had instructed their taxi driver to park at a suitable distance from the hotel, ensuring that they could observe the couple without causing any inconvenience.

"Thank you very much for dropping me off. Could you please let me know how much I owe you for the ride?" The taxi driver responded with the same fare as the other taxi driver.

"If it would not be an inconvenience, I would prefer to use my card for payment." The taxi driver responded with a nod of agreement and retrieved the portable terminal. He entered the amount due and presented it to the passenger, who then tapped their credit card on the screen. The transaction was successfully completed.

He unbuckled his seatbelt and exited the taxi politely, walking up to the gated entrance and strolling slowly inside. He observed the couple walking up the stairs and entering the hotel through the automatic doors.

The stranger waited patiently before ascending the stairs and entering the hotel. He scanned the lobby, noticing the absence of the couple he was expecting. With a polite demeanour, he approached the receptionist to inquire about booking a room.

"Hello, would it be possible for you to kindly inform me about the individuals you assisted prior to my arrival? I am currently searching for my friends, and any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated." The receptionist kindly obliged and commenced searching through the computer system, diligently navigating through the designated folder that contained the comprehensive records of all individuals who had previously resided or were currently residing at the hotel.

"Before you, I had the pleasure of assisting Giovanni Balestrieri and  Alistair Gallagher. Are they the individuals you seek?" The stranger offered a courteous smile to the receptionist and nodded in affirmation.

"Yes, they are my friends. Could you please inform me which room they are currently staying in? I would like to visit them." The receptionist scanned the list once more and provided the room number where they were staying.

"They are staying in room eighty-two. If you would prefer, room eighty-four is available. It is the room opposite theirs. Would you be interested in booking that room?" The stranger nodded in agreement as the receptionist smiled and prepared to enter his information into the computer.

"Excuse me, I would like to ask you a few questions." The stranger graciously complied and began providing her with the necessary information.

"Last question, if you don't mind, could you please tell me your name?" The stranger nodded in agreement, indicating his willingness to share his "name" without hesitation.

"My name is Raphael Esposito."
