➹THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE➷

The cousins glanced at Cassius, who seemed to be perspiring and trembling due to anxiety.

"Could it have been you?" Cassius swallowed nervously as he lowered his gaze to the floor.

"Please raise your head and make eye contact with me. "Please provide me with an answer while you're at it, as I would rather not have to repeat myself." Cassius was aware that fleeing was no longer an option, even if he desired to do so.

"Yes, it was I." Giovanni was visibly upset as he requested Cassius to take a seat on the couch in the corner of the office.

"Could you please tell me what transpired following Cassius's apology to you?" Giovanni took a moment to recollect what Cassisus had mentioned to him that day.

"In an effort to amend the situation, he extended an invitation to Alistair and myself to join him at a local nightclub . He graciously offered to cover the expenses associated with this outing." Lorenzo politely nodded in comprehension as he patiently awaited Giovanni to conclude his speech.

"He kindly informed us that he would knock on the door precisely at nine o'clock, and he did so. We then followed him to the hotel lobby and out the front door to a taxi that he had thoughtfully arranged for our transportation to the nightclub." Cassius was quietly seated in the corner, contemplating a perplexing situation. It seemed that Lorenzo was aware of the truth all along, which is why he believed everything that Giovanni was currently telling him.

How could Lorenzo ascertain Giovanni's accuracy in the information provided? He was not present at the time of the events in question.

"Upon arriving at the nightclub, we entered, and Cassius kindly informed us that he would be purchasing beverages for us. Before doing so, he politely inquired about our drink preferences. We provided him with the information, and he proceeded towards the counter to place the order." Lorenzo was attentively listening, nodding his head, and smiling in a cordial manner.

Cassius, on the other hand, was observing him. He had a crucial question to ask, but he decided to wait until Giovanni finished speaking if he ever did.

"There was a slight delay in receiving our beverages due to Cassius engaging in a conversation with an individual at the counter. He subsequently introduced this person to our table. At one point, I noticed an unusual colouration and bubbling in my drink." Lorenzo turned his head to look at Cassius, who inadvertently made eye contact and promptly redirected his gaze to the floor, marking the second instance of this behaviour today.

Cassius was also perplexed as to why Giovanni appeared to retain all of his memories from that day, as it seemed improbable that he would be able to do so.

Giovanni recalled waking up in an unfamiliar bed the next day. Shortly after waking up with a severe headache, he heard a knock on the door, followed by two voices. One was unmistakably Alistair's, while the other belonged to Cassius.

Giovanni appeared visibly agitated as he rose from his seat and approached Cassius.

"I am curious to know why you would do that to me." Cassius glanced at Giovanni with eyes welling up. He had been quite successful in maintaining the confidentiality of the matter at hand, However, he was aware that the truth would eventually come to light, even though he did not anticipate it happening today.

"Could you kindly share how you managed to recall the events of that day with such precision?" Giovanni cleared his throat, preparing to provide Cassius with an explanation in a respectful and courteous manner.

"I still vividly remember that day. However, the only thing that eludes my memory from the entire journey is your face. Every other detail remains crystal clear in my mind." Cassius's lower lip was trembling noticeably.

"Excuse me, but why didn't you inform me about this matter?" Giovanni chuckled gently.

"I did not believe it was necessary since it was not an obligation, was it?" Lorenzo observed the scene before him with delight.

"No, it was not. I apologise." Giovanni gave a nod in agreement.

"Excuse me, but you did not respond to my enquiry. May I ask why you would do such a thing to me?" Now that the truth has been revealed, Cassisus no longer felt the need to continue his deception.

"On the day I happened to see you on the train, I felt a strong attraction towards you and decided that I wanted to get to know you better. That's why I chose to sit in the same booth, specifically in the seat across from you." The cousins were attentively listening to the story that Cassius was sharing with them.

Lorenzo politely approached Giovanni and stood beside him, both of them directing their attention towards Cassius.

He feels a sense of apprehension in their presence.

"I believe it's important to distinguish between love and obsession. Love is a deep and genuine affection, while obsession can be an unhealthy fixation. It's crucial to recognise the difference for one's own well-being and the well-being of others." Cassius understood that he had developed romantic feelings for Giovanni, and it was nothing more than love. Is that correct?

Could it be possible if it was truly just an obsession all this time?
