Author's POV

All of them were deeply thinking when Raghav said, "We have no other way, Rajkumari. We need to get married." Jaanki looked at him like he had grown another head. "You don't have to do this for me, Maharaj. You told me you needed time for marriage. I don't want you to be forced into it when you are not prepared." "No one is forcing me. We had already decided we would get married, if not today, then after a few months. And I'm not doing it just for you. You know what my council has plotted. Even if I can avoid the coup, my reputation would still be tarnished, and even if we get married then, you would have already lost your right to the throne, and the marriage would seem like something we did to save face. I don't want that. We have no choice." Raghav was correct. Even if he avoided a coup, his reputation would be tarnished, and Jaanki wouldn't be willing to give up her kingdom. The only way they could ensure no damage was done was to get married.

"The council will meet at 10 AM. Its 6 AM now, we don't have time to plan a wedding," Jaanki said. "That's true. We can't have an elaborate wedding, but we can have a wedding in a temple and show up before the council." That wasn't a bad suggestion. Now was no time for big weddings. They had to get married before the council met. Jaanki nodded. Arjun and Sakshi were trying to process all the new information. "Ms Sharma, I want you to arrange a pandit in my kuldevi mandir for a wedding. I need that to be done in half an hour," Jaanki instructed her half-asleep secretary. "Bhabhi, you can't get married in a skirt and blouse," Sakshi exclaimed. Jaanki looked at her, surprised. Did she just call her bhabhi? "You don't mind me calling you Bhabhi, right?" Jaanki shook her head with a smile. "You can call me that." The conditions of her wedding weren't ideal, but she could see a silver lining. She would get a family like them. But what Sakshi said was true. She couldn't get married in a skirt and blouse.

She went into the clothing collection at Poshak and picked out an outfit that had been designed for the fashion week. It was an anarkali. It was nothing like a bridal attire, but anything better than a skirt, she thought. She got dressed, put on some jhumkas from the same collection, and walked back to her office. "Should we leave, Rajkumari?" Raghav asked, and she nodded. They got seated in the car and proceeded towards the mandir. Raghav didn't know what to make of the situation. It was not like he didn't like her, but all of it was happening so fast. He just wanted time, and the council was hell-bent on not giving him that. "Please don't call me Rajkumari. We are getting married; you can call me Jaanki," Jaanki said, breaking his chain of thoughts. He turned to her and said, "Sure, but only if you call me Raghav as well." She nodded.

They reached the temple at around 6:45 AM. Jaanki's secretary had made arrangements for a small wedding. She didn't know whose it was, though. Jaanki and Raghav walked into the temple with Arjun and Sakshi behind them. Both of them had hundreds of thoughts running in their head. They didn't want it to happen like this, but they were forced. Ms Sharma was waiting for them inside, with the pandit and 2 other people. Jaanki was confused. Who were they? "That is Viraj, my friend, and his sister, Aashi. She's Arjun's fiancé," Raghav informed her, and she nodded. "Ma'am, I've arranged for everything. If I may ask, who is getting married?" Her secretary asked. "I am, Ms Sharma." Ms. Sharma's jaw dropped.

Jaankiand Raghav got seated in the mandap. "Do we have a muhurat, panditji?" Virajasked. "Yes, we do have one at 8. It is quite an auspicious day you havechosen, Rajkumari." Jaanki internally chuckled. She didn't choose it. Raghavand Jaanki just gave them a small smile. Everyone knew this wasn't planned butwasn't fully sure of the compulsions. They didn't know why everything was donein such a hurry. Arjun and Sakshi didn't know what to think. They were happythat their brother was getting married, but they didn't like that the Majarajof Madhavgarh was being compelled. Aashi reached for Arjun's hand and gave it asqueeze, sensing the tension in his body. "Vivah ki vidhi shuru kare?" Panditjiasked. Raghav nodded, and their wedding began.

"Should be begin the ceremony?"
