"Come on, Petey. I know you can do better than that," Indigo chided, a hint of frustration in her voice as she circled Peter in the makeshift training area.
Peter gritted his teeth, frustration evident on his face as he swung at Indigo again, only for her to effortlessly sidestep his attack. His movements lacked precision, and he knew it.
"You're getting sloppy," Indigo remarked, her voice tinged with a mix of encouragement and challenge. She had expected more from Peter, given his potential and the abilities she had witnessed firsthand.
Peter frowned, his brow furrowing with determination. He knew he needed to do better, especially if he wanted to impress Indigo and prove himself capable.
"Come on, Indie. I'm tired and you're being mean," Peter whined, his frustration palpable as he wiped sweat from his brow.
Indigo rolled her eyes playfully, crossing her arms as she looked at Peter. They had been on the roof of their apartment building for hours, engaging in their impromptu training session. Peter's sole objective was to land a hit on Indigo, yet with every punch or kick he threw, she effortlessly dodged or countered it. Despite Peter's exhaustion, Indigo seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself, though she was hesitant to admit it.
"Mean? I'm just trying to toughen you up, kid," Indigo teased, a hint of amusement in her voice as she circled Peter. "You're doing great, though. Just keep pushing."
Peter let out a sigh, slumping his shoulders slightly. "Easy for you to say. You're like, superhuman or something," he muttered, his breath coming in slightly ragged from their prolonged exertion.
"Says the kid with superhuman strength," Indigo quipped, rolling her eyes at Peter with a playful smirk.
They had spent several days training together now, and Indigo was starting to feel a genuine fondness for Peter. Despite his initial clumsiness and occasional whining, she had come to admire his determination and resilience. It was only their third day of training, but Indigo could already see potential in him—a potential that could make him a formidable Avenger one day.
"Alright, let's go again," Indigo said, her voice firm but encouraging as she gestured for Peter to get into position. "Plant your feet, and remember to lead with your right foot when you throw your punch. You've got this."
Peter nodded earnestly, taking a deep breath to steady himself. He shifted into a fighting stance, his focus intensifying as he prepared to follow Indigo's instructions. With a determined expression, he launched into another series of punches and kicks, aiming to apply what Indigo had taught him.
Indigo didn't notice the webbing leave Peter's wrist until she felt her legs swept out from under her, causing her to land on her back with a groan. She looked up to see Peter smiling down at her, his hand extended to help her up.
