"Gracie James, you have to let mommy put your shoes on," Indigo gently insisted, a hint of amusement in her voice as she watched her daughter waddle around the apartment.
Gracie was in full baby mode, determined to resist getting ready for the day ahead. Every attempt Indigo made to catch her and slip on her shoes was met with giggles and evasive maneuvers. It was a game to Gracie—a game she seemed intent on winning.
Indigo sat on the floor, holding Gracie's little shoes in her hands, patiently waiting for the right moment to make her move. She knew she had to get Gracie ready to spend the day with Nat and Steve, allowing her to focus on her work without worrying about her daughter.
But Gracie had other plans. With a mischievous sparkle in her eyes, she zigzagged across the room, a bundle of energy and defiance. Indigo couldn't help but smile at her daughter's spirited determination.
"No!" Gracie declared triumphantly, skidding to a stop in front of Indigo, her hands on her hips in a mock-serious pose.
Indigo opened her arms wide, and Gracie immediately launched herself into her mother's embrace. She held her daughter close, feeling the warmth of her small body against her own, and smiled down at her with a mixture of tenderness and amusement.
"But mommy needs to go to work, baby," Indigo gently reminded Gracie, hoping to prepare her for the day ahead.
"No, mommy," Gracie protested, squirming playfully in Indigo's arms. Her little hands clung tightly to Indigo's shirt, as if trying to anchor her mother in place.
Indigo sighed softly, torn between her responsibilities at work and the irresistible pull of her daughter's affection. She glanced at her phone, hesitating for a moment before making a decision. With a resigned smile, she quickly texted her lab assistant, notifying them that she wouldn't be able to come in today.
Gracie had a way of wrapping Indigo around her little fingers, and Indigo found herself willingly surrendering to her daughter's charms time and again. She couldn't help but marvel at the depth of love she felt for Gracie—a love that filled every corner of her heart and soul.
"What about Auntie Nat and Unkie Stevey? They'll be here any minute to take you on your fun day," Indigo announced to Gracie with a playful grin.
Gracie's eyes lit up with excitement at the mention of her beloved Auntie Nat and Unkie Stevey. She giggled mischievously and darted off, her tiny feet pattering across the living room floor in a whirlwind of energy.
Indigo chuckled softly as she watched Gracie's exuberant display. Despite the chaos of trying to get Gracie ready earlier, she couldn't help but be amused by her daughter's boundless enthusiasm.
