Bucky's POV ~
He gently laid Indigo down on the bed, mindful not to disturb her as she slept peacefully. Bucky had spent the entire night awake, simply watching her, marveling at the serenity that graced her features in sleep. She was his anchor, his future, the woman who would stand beside him in all the trials and joys that life would bring. She embodied his hopes for a family, for a happy ending, for a life filled with love.
For the past month, he had been consumed with thoughts of how to ensure their future together would be everything she deserved. He had wrestled with doubts, haunted by his past and the scars it left, yet he knew deep down that Indigo saw him differently. She saw the man he was becoming, the man worthy of her love and trust.
As he looked down at her sleeping form, a soft smile tugged at his lips. She looked so peaceful, so utterly at ease in the quiet of their shared space. With a sense of both wonder and certainty, Bucky knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
Walking silently to the window, he climbed out and began the quiet walk back to the palace. The world was still shrouded in the soft hues of dawn, the rising sun painting the sky in hues of pink and gold. The tranquility of the early morning soothed the lingering anxiety in his mind, offering a moment of calm reflection.
Each step brought him closer to the day that would mark the beginning of their new life together. Despite the nerves that had gripped him earlier, Bucky now felt a quiet confidence settle over him. He knew that today, surrounded by friends and loved ones, he would stand beside Indigo and pledge his love to her in front of everyone who mattered.
Bucky made his way into the palace and was greeted by Steve, who was waiting for him with a serious expression.
"Hey Stevey," Bucky greeted softly, trying to ease the tension.
Steve responded with a stern look. "You weren't supposed to see her until the wedding."
Bucky chuckled and patted Steve's shoulder reassuringly. "Nothing could keep me from my girl, not even superstitions."
"You're impossible, Barnes." Steve sighed, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips despite his attempt to maintain a serious demeanor. "You're really getting married, Buck,"
"I have never been so nervous in my entire life," Bucky admitted, his voice tinged with a mixture of awe and apprehension as he and Steve walked through the quiet corridors of the palace.
Steve stopped and turned to look at Bucky seriously, his expression grave. "Just don't do anything stupid, okay? Indigo is one of my best friends. I love her too, you know."
Bucky nodded solemnly, understanding the weight of Steve's words. "I'll try not to," he replied earnestly, starting to walk again. "I thought I was your best friend?"
