3 Weeks Later...
"Hurry up, we're going to miss it!" Indigo's voice echoed through the stairwell as she practically pulled Bucky up the stairs of her apartment building in Queens.
They were racing against time, trying to reach Peter's surprise party before he returned from dinner with Aunt May. It had taken some convincing to get Okoye to agree to let Bucky out, but Indigo had assured her they would return promptly for his final session in a couple of days.
Indigo sensed Bucky's nerves radiating through his touch, understanding his apprehension about being in the same space as Tony. Yet, she trusted that for her sake, they would maintain civility.
At last, they arrived at the apartment door, and Indigo knocked eagerly, feeling Bucky squeeze her hand in a silent gesture of reassurance.
"It'll be alright, James. Just take a deep breath," Indigo whispered, her voice a soothing presence amidst the tension.
The door swung open, revealing Pepper with a pleasantly surprised expression on her face.
"Indie, darling, I didn't know you were coming!" Pepper exclaimed, enveloping Indigo in a tight embrace. Indigo returned the hug eagerly, feeling a rush of warmth at seeing her friend again after so long.
"I've missed you, Pepper," Indigo admitted with a heartfelt smile, pulling back slightly to look at Pepper from head to toe.
"Did we miss it?" Indigo inquired anxiously, eager not to have missed the moment.
"Not yet, but they'll be here any minute," Pepper reassured her with a smile, her demeanor calm and collected despite the impending excitement.
She ushered them inside, Bucky trailing closely behind Indigo. As they entered, Indigo scanned the room, taking in the familiar faces and dynamics. Tony stood in the kitchen, engaged in conversation with Rhodey, a drink in hand. Happy chatted animatedly with a young boy who seemed about Peter's age, while a girl on the couch observed Indigo with a curious, almost skeptical gaze.
Indigo's attention returned to Tony, who had noticed her presence and turned towards them. His expression shifted from casual conversation to surprise as he caught sight of Bucky standing beside Indigo.
Sensing the tension, Indigo raised her hands in a placating gesture. "Tony, let's keep it civil," she implored softly, her tone carrying a hint of both plea and expectation.
Tony handed his drink to Rhodey and swiftly approached Indigo, who instinctively held up her hand to halt his advance toward Bucky. Despite her apprehension, she gasped as Tony enveloped her in a tight embrace.
