Indigo's POV ~

"James, I'm fine," Indigo reassured him as they walked towards the lab. She had managed to convince him she was well enough for work; now she just needed to reassure him she would manage once he left.

"You spent the whole morning puking your guts out. I'm worried," Bucky said, holding her hand tightly.

They stood in front of the lab doors now. Indigo leaned in, planting a soft kiss on his cheek and gently patting his chest. "If I need anything, I promise I'll text you," she said, smiling warmly up at him.

Indigo had been feeling unwell all week, but she didn't want Bucky to worry unnecessarily. This morning marked the first time she had thrown up, and she spent five minutes brushing her teeth to rid herself of the lingering taste.

She knew exactly what might be causing her symptoms, but she hesitated to get his hopes up prematurely. She just needed him to leave so she could slip into the hospital wing unnoticed and get checked out.

"Okay, but if anything happens, I'll be here in a heartbeat," Bucky said, his concern evident in his voice.

"I wouldn't expect anything less, my love," Indigo replied softly, watching him turn and walk back towards the entrance.

Indigo watched Bucky turn the corner and counted to thirty before hurrying towards the hospital wing. Her mind raced with thoughts, disbelief mingling with anxiety. She couldn't be pregnant. Her period had stopped about a year ago, but she hadn't given it much thought until now. There were no obvious signs, aside from feeling nauseous. But this morning, the mere smell of eggs had triggered a wave of nausea she couldn't control.

Reaching the hospital wing, she quickly walked to Asha's office and knocked once.

"Come in," Asha's voice called from the other side of the door.

Indigo swung the door open without entering, her urgency palpable. "I need you to give me a pregnancy test," she blurted out.

Asha's expression flickered with surprise. "Um, okay," she replied, recovering quickly. Rising from her desk, she gestured for Indigo to follow her. Indigo trailed after her, her fingers nervously toying with the locket around her neck—an item that had become her favorite piece of jewelry, second only to her wedding ring.

They entered a hospital room, and Indigo perched on the edge of the bed while Asha prepared the necessary equipment—test tubes and a needle.

"I'm going to take a blood sample first, and then we'll go through some questions," Asha explained calmly, her demeanor professional and reassuring.

Indigo turned her head away slightly as Asha tightened the wrap around her arm and inserted the needle to draw blood. Her mind raced with conflicting thoughts—would Bucky be excited if she was pregnant? Was she ready for this? The uncertainty gnawed at her as she waited anxiously for the results.
