Hold Your Breath by Chase Atlantic
Chapter 27
"Red! Mahal, are you alright now?"
"Davin!"
As soon as I heard Davin's voice, I immediately got up from the emergency hospital bed. He embraced me in a tight hug, his breathing was so deep and full of extreme worry.
I don't know what time it is already, and I don't have time to worry about it anymore.
We crashed into an accident.
We are somewhat safe.
Notwithstanding my doubts that the black van had purposely harmed the car we were in, my foremost concern was only Davin's safety. And here he is, my love is safe. I was so relieved feeling his warmth soothing me with ease.
"D-Davin, I was so scared... Thank God you're alright..." I said carefully with my trembling lips. Tears pooled in my eyes, overwhelmed with concern for him. I tightened my hug more.
I felt his hand caressing the back of my head, leaning me closer to him for a warm hug. "I'm here, Red... Shh... Okay lang ako, mahal," he said slowly.
I buried my face in his neck, tears flowing freely from my eyes. I am so relieved he's safe, he's here in my arms. His warmth is enough to conceal those worries away. I don't think I could bear it if something far worse would happen to him; and I wish he wouldn't experience something like this again.
We solely suffered a few injuries as caused by of the broken windshield.
We let go of each other's hug as he cupped my face, making me look up to him with my eyes drenching by my own tears.
"Ikaw, Red? Are you alright now? I'm... I'm so sorry. Patawarin mo ako... I should have been more careful...
"Don't... Don't apologize, Davin. I'm alright, mahal... We're alright... Thank God." My voice cracked as I cried more.
We were crying as if we have been restrained from endless worry.
After a breakdown, it took us a few minutes to recover. We are both patched with bandages on our foreheads, arms, and cheeks, covering wounds inflicted by the shattered glasses.
He quickly hugged me, obviously worried about my condition.
Bumitaw siya sa yakap. "T-Teka tatawagan ko si Mama-"
"Renz, don't. I'm okay now," agad kong pigil sa kanya.
His forehead creased, surprise and dismay crawled across his expression.
"Ano ba, Red!
