Chapter 33

"Tita Eve, thank you po." I let out a small smile before stealing a glance at the rearview mirror. Davin's gaze instantly met mine, a blank expression plastered across his face, making me look away again and leaving me no choice but to head out of the car.

"See you, Red!" paalam ni Tita Eve.

"Really, Mom? Sino ba ang nag-drive?" dinig kong bulong ni Davin. I got confused. What does he mean?

I pursed my lips first as I stammered, "T-Thank you, Davi-"

"I'm not talking to you," putol niya sa sasabihin ko.

"Lance!" Tita Eve nearly smacked Davin. "It's okay, Red."

She gestured me to lean closer towards the window from where she is, as if she was attempting to have a word with me.

"He's totally grumpy right now. But you know what," she started, making me gulp, "he's happy to see you even though he can't remember you for now. I just know that, Red, his eyes don't lie."

Carefully, I accepted her words as I nod my head.

Tita Eve bid her goodbye to me first, making me wave my hand while watching their car leave.

It's alright, Redler, you can handle this. You can totally understand Davin, you should understand him. I should not let this simply discourage me. I need to stay strong and stoic, especially given with his current attitude, and more with his current condition.

Patience. Make yourself mindful and patient, Red. Patience is the key to help him remember things.

Kaya mo 'yan, Red, matibay tayo rito.

Soon as their car completely vanished from my sight, I heaved a deep breath and exaggeratedly let out a sigh. Feeling the chill tonight, I slipped into my leather jacket.

Damn, what he had said to me a while ago was unbearable.

He totally acts different now; the way he speaks, and the way he delivers them, making his words almost as sharp as a knife's edge. And now while thinking about it, para akong sinasaksak nang paulit-ulit.

Masakit, e.

But knowing my objective, I should get used to it.

We are currently dining for dinner. Kasama ko sina Tita Kylie, Mama, Edo, at Renz. I told them everything already, including what Tita Eve had said to me. At first they couldn't believe what I told them either, they were obviously shocked and surprised. But now, they gradually understand the situation that Davin went through.

"He's alright, I guess. Pero hanggang ngayon wala pa rin siyang maalala sa nakaraan niya," simple kong sagot kaya sila tumango. "And that made me think of lending him a help. I'll do anything to help him remember things, kahit alam kong medyo mahihirapan ako."

Edo laughed. "Kaya mo 'yan, Red, malaki ka na. Dito lang kami sa gedli, panonoorin ka namin kung paano ka maubusan ng pasensya."

They all laugh at me, making me roll my eyes with annoyance.

I sighed. "He's as grumpy as a retired hag, I swear to God."

"So, how long are you going to stay here then? Babalik na sana tayo after three weeks, Red. You know, work," Tita Kylie brought up.
