Chapter 6

Alright, there doesn't seem to really be any doubt about that. I get it already. He really likes the color red.

Why am I thinking about it this early in the morning, anyway? Even worse, why would I even give a damn?

He meant that day that he likes red. The color red. No further meanings.

"Hoy, babaita! Nakikinig ka ba?"

I blinked my eyes as I fixed my posture from leaning against my chair's backrest.

"Pardon?" I responded, totally unaware about what she's talking about.

She shut her eyes tight, like she was holding herself back from snapping.

I was taken aback, my heart nearly leapt out of its cage because of what she just said, and I turned around as quickly as I could. But when I looked back, all I saw was a glass wall staring back at me.

Edorina's laughter exploded around us so I quickly looked at her again, a flush of embarrassment was slowly creeping up in my entire face. I widened my eyes at her as she started laughing at me. When she showed no signs of stopping, I shot her a sharp glare.

You're drawing their attention. Nakakahiya," I sneered at her with emphasis, but I managed to lower my voice.

"Sorry, sorry! Ang cute mo kasi!" she squealed, resisting herself from laughing more.

She raised her eyebrows alternately. "Kumusta kayo ni Davin?"

I threw the used table napkin to her. "Huwag ka ngang magsabi ng masasamang salita."

"Sus, pakunwari ka pang bruha ka. E, bakit ka namumula?" she pointed out with a smug look on her face.

Napailing na lang ako. I pretended to take a sip on my coffee through the straw to ease the embarrassment in me.

" Hay." She leaned her elbows on the table, her face was against her palms. "Nagdadalaga ka na, I'm so so proud of you."

"Bwisit ka. Tumigil ka nga." Inambahan ko na siyang tutusukin ng straw.

"Okay, okay, enough na!" Pinigilan niya nang tumawa. "Ano nga ang ginawa niyo kahapon?"

"Nag-message ako sa 'yo kagabi, 'di ba? Hindi mo nabasa?" I brought out.

She didn't allow me to use phone the whole day. Kaninang umaga niya lang binigay ulit," she said, almost whispering.

I slowly nodded. I shouldn't have asked that, I already knew Edo's parents were really strict. Iyon ang naikwento niya sa akin dati. But she never said more. She's a bit sensitive when it comes to family matters. So I just sat there in front of her, offering my presence, just enough to let her know that I'm here for her.
