As the first weeks of term progressed, Eliza struggled with recurring nightmares, the horrors of her summer echoing in her dreams. Despite her best efforts to maintain a facade of normalcy, the sleepless nights began to take their toll, leaving her visibly paler and more withdrawn than usual.

The Marauders decided to turn their couch in the common room into a mini bed for Eliza, Sirius and/ or Remus, who took turns staying up, ensuring that she was never alone when the nightmares struck. They sat by her side, whispering words of comfort or simply offering the silent solidarity of their presence.

One night, after a particularly harrowing dream, Eliza sat up in bed, her breathing ragged and tears streaming down her cheeks. Remus was at her side in an instant, his arm around her shoulders. "It's okay, Eliza. It's just a dream," he murmured, though his heart ached at the pain evident in her eyes.

"I just feel so helpless," Eliza whispered back, leaning into his embrace. "Like I can't escape it, even here."

"We'll find a way to help you through this," Remus promised, his voice firm with resolve. "You're not alone in this, remember that."

The next day, Remus and Sirius approached Dumbledore to discuss Eliza's situation. The wise headmaster listened intently, his face etched with concern. "We must do all we can to support Miss Black," Dumbledore stated, his decision clear. "I will arrange for some additional resources, and perhaps some sessions with Madam Pomfrey might alleviate some of the symptoms."

Grateful for the headmaster's understanding, Remus and Sirius relayed the news to Eliza, who managed a small, hopeful smile. "Thank you," she said, the weight of her burden slightly eased by the support of her friends and the promise of help.

That evening, as the group gathered in the common room, James looked over at Eliza with concern. "You doing okay, Eliza?"

Eliza nodded, though the dark circles under her eyes told a different story. "I'm getting there, James. Just taking it one day at a time."

Sirius, ever the protective brother, added, "We're working on some things to help her sleep better. Dumbledore's on board."

"Good," James said firmly. "We're all here for you, Eliza. Anything you need."

The days that followed were a testament to the strength of their friendship. Eliza found herself surrounded by the unwavering support of her friends, each of them contributing in their own way to help her through the difficult times. Sirius kept a watchful eye on her, ensuring she had everything she needed. James and Peter provided moments of levity and distraction, their antics a welcome respite from her troubles. Remus, her constant companion, offered his steady presence and a shoulder to lean on.

Despite their heavy academic load, the Marauders made time to be with Eliza, often staying up late to study together or just talk. They would gather in the common room, books spread out before them, but the focus was always on supporting each other.

One evening, after a particularly intense study session, Eliza looked around at her friends, her heart swelling with gratitude. "I don't know what I'd do without you guys," she said softly.

"You'd manage," Sirius replied with a grin, "but it's a lot more fun with us around, right?"

Eliza laughed, a genuine sound that lightened the mood. "Definitely."

Remus reached over and squeezed her hand. "We're in this together, Eliza. Always."

The next morning, as they headed to breakfast, Eliza felt a renewed sense of hope. The Great Hall buzzed with the usual morning chatter, and for the first time in weeks, she felt a glimmer of excitement about the day ahead.

At breakfast, they received their timetables. Eliza and Remus exchanged a glance, both realizing they had the exact same classes. "Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of each other," Remus said with a smile.

Eliza nodded, feeling comforted by the thought. "I'm glad."

Sirius, sitting beside her, scanned his own timetable and nodded approvingly. "Good. Remus will keep an eye on you."

James, who had been discussing Quidditch strategies with Peter, leaned over. "So, what's our first class?"

"Defense Against the Dark Arts," Remus replied, glancing at his timetable. "Followed by Transfiguration and Potions."

"Great," James said, his eyes lighting up. "I've got some new ideas for our pranks this year. We need to leave our mark, after all."

Peter chuckled. "Just as long as we don't get caught."

As they made their way to their first class, Eliza felt a sense of normalcy returning. The nightmares still haunted her, but with her friends by her side, she felt stronger, more capable of facing the challenges ahead.

In Defense Against the Dark Arts, they took their seats at the back of the classroom. Professor Lupin, noticing Eliza's pale face and tired eyes, gave her a reassuring nod as he began the lesson. Remus sat close to Eliza, his presence a constant source of comfort.

Throughout the day, Remus remained by Eliza's side, his attentiveness unwavering. In Transfiguration, he helped her with complex spells, patiently explaining the finer points of the transformations. In Potions, they partnered up, their teamwork seamless as they brewed intricate concoctions. And in Charms, Remus's steady hand guided her wand movements, ensuring her success.

By the time dinner rolled around, Eliza was exhausted but grateful for the support of her friends. As they sat together in the Great Hall, Sirius and James shared tales of their classes, their banter lightening the mood.

"Did you see McGonagall's face when we turned those teacups into mice?" James laughed, nudging Sirius.

Sirius grinned. "She was impressed, though she'd never admit it."

Eliza chuckled softly, the warmth of their camaraderie easing some of her weariness. She looked around at her friends, feeling a flicker of hope amidst the shadows of her past.

As the evening wore on, they returned to the common room, settling into their usual spots by the fire. Remus, ever attentive, sat close to Eliza, his hand resting gently on hers.

"We're in this together, Eliza," he said quietly. "We'll get through this year, one step at a time."

Eliza nodded, her heart swelling with gratitude and love for her friends. "Thank you, Remus. Thank you all."

The fire crackled softly, casting a warm glow over the Marauders and Eliza as they settled in for the night. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, they faced them together, their bond unbreakable and their spirits intertwined.
