Three days had passed since Eliza's collapse, and although she was still weak, she had been released from the hospital wing. Christmas morning dawned crisp and bright, with a fresh blanket of snow transforming Hogwarts into a picturesque winter wonderland.

Eliza woke in the Marauders' dormitory, the familiar sight of the enchanted ceiling above bringing a small smile to her lips. As she slowly sat up, she noticed the room was filled with a warm glow from the fireplace, and the faint scent of pine and cinnamon lingered in the air.

Remus was the first to notice she was awake. He sat on the edge of her bed, his eyes filled with relief and concern. "Good morning, Eliza," he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "How are you feeling?"

Eliza managed a small smile, her voice still a bit raspy. "Better, thanks. It's nice to be out of the hospital wing."

James, who had been rearranging the gifts under their small, magically lit Christmas tree, turned and grinned. "Merry Christmas, Eliza! We've got a surprise for you."

Peter, clutching a plate of freshly baked cookies, nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, you're going to love it!"

Before Eliza could respond, Sirius appeared at her side, gently lifting her into his arms. "Absolutely no walking for you today," he said firmly, though his tone was laced with affection. "We're not taking any chances."

Eliza laughed softly, feeling both touched and slightly embarrassed by their protectiveness. "You guys are too much. I'm fine, really."

"Humor us," James said, winking as he placed a beautifully wrapped gift in her lap.

They gathered around the fireplace, the room filled with the crackling warmth of the fire and the soft hum of Christmas magic. As Eliza carefully unwrapped her present, her eyes widened with delight. Inside was a delicate silver necklace, adorned with a small, intricately carved wolf pendant.

"It's beautiful," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. "Thank you so much."

Remus squeezed her hand. "We thought it was fitting, considering... everything."

James handed out the rest of the gifts, his face alight with joy. "Alright, now it's our turn!"

The next hour was filled with laughter and excitement as they exchanged gifts. James received a new set of Quidditch gloves, perfect for the winter matches. Sirius unwrapped a collection of enchanted prank items, each more devious than the last. Peter, always practical, received a set of charmed study aids to help with their upcoming N.E.W.T.s. Remus, ever thoughtful, was given a beautifully bound book on advanced defensive spells.

Despite the cheer and camaraderie, there was an undercurrent of vigilance. The Marauders kept a close eye on Eliza, making sure she was comfortable and not exerting herself. Even as they celebrated, they remained fiercely protective, determined to prevent another scare.

As the morning stretched into the afternoon, Sirius and Peter decided to fetch dinner from the Great Hall, leaving James and Remus to watch over Eliza.

"We'll be back soon," Sirius said, wrapping a warm scarf around his neck. "Don't let her out of your sight," he added with a teasing grin.

James nodded, though his eyes were serious. "Don't worry, she's in good hands."

Once they had left, the room grew quiet. Remus sat beside Eliza, his hand never leaving hers. James settled into an armchair, watching them with a thoughtful expression.

"You know," James began, his voice breaking the silence, "this year has been... intense. But we've faced everything together, and we'll continue to do so."

Eliza nodded, her eyes meeting James's. "I couldn't have done it without you all. You've been my rock."

Remus's grip tightened on her hand. "We're family, Eliza. We'll always be here for you, no matter what."

The door creaked open, and Sirius and Peter returned, their arms laden with trays of food. The smell of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and various holiday treats filled the room.

"Feast time!" Sirius announced, setting the trays down on the table.

They gathered around, sharing the meal with a sense of togetherness that warmed Eliza's heart. Despite her exhaustion, she felt a profound sense of gratitude and love for her friends. This Christmas, though marked by her recent collapse, had reminded her of the strength and support that surrounded her.

As the evening wore on, they exchanged stories and laughter, the room filled with a sense of hope and renewal. For a brief moment, the outside world and its looming threats seemed distant, replaced by the comforting presence of friendship and love.

Later that night, as Eliza drifted off to sleep with Sirius watching over her, she felt a deep sense of peace. Despite the challenges ahead, she knew she could face anything with the Marauders by her side. This Christmas had shown her the true power of their bond, a bond that would see them through whatever came next.
