Despite their exhaustion and the ever-present challenges they faced, the Marauders were determined to lift Eliza's spirits. They knew that their usual brand of mischief had the power to bring laughter and a momentary escape from the burdens weighing heavily on her.

It was during a quiet evening in the Gryffindor common room that James, his eyes gleaming with mischief, proposed a prank to cheer Eliza up. "Alright, everyone," he began, gathering the group closer. "Eliza's been through hell, and it's about time we did something to put a smile back on her face."

Sirius, always eager for a bit of fun, leaned forward. "What did you have in mind, Prongs?"

James's grin widened. "I'm thinking we turn the Great Hall into a pumpkin parade. Enchant the pumpkins to float and follow people around, singing and dancing. We'll make it a full-on performance."

Remus chuckled, glancing at Eliza, who was sitting quietly beside him, her eyes heavy with fatigue but a hint of curiosity flickering within them. "That sounds like it could be fun," he agreed, squeezing her hand gently.

Peter, ever the planner, piped up with a practical question. "How are we going to pull this off without getting caught?"

James waved off his concern with a confident smile. "Leave that to me. We'll do it in stages. Tonight, we'll start with enchanting the pumpkins, and tomorrow, we'll set them up in the Great Hall."

The group set to work, sneaking into the kitchens under the cover of darkness to borrow a collection of pumpkins. Back in the common room, they huddled together, casting enchantments that would bring the pumpkins to life. James's leadership and Sirius's natural flair for chaos combined perfectly, creating a set of pumpkins that not only floated but also performed synchronized dances and sang amusing songs.

Eliza watched with growing amusement as the pumpkins began to take on personalities of their own. One particularly cheeky pumpkin floated over to her, its carved face grinning widely. It burst into a lively rendition of a wizarding folk song, making her laugh for the first time in what felt like ages.

Sirius, noticing the genuine smile on her face, leaned over and whispered, "Told you we'd make you laugh."

Eliza squeezed his hand, her eyes shining with gratitude. "You always do."

The next day, under the guise of planning for the upcoming Halloween feast, the Marauders smuggled the enchanted pumpkins into the Great Hall. They placed them strategically around the room, ensuring that the floating gourds would interact with as many students as possible.

As dinner approached, the students filed into the Great Hall, unaware of the magical surprise awaiting them. The Marauders and Eliza took their seats, barely able to contain their excitement.

When the last student had settled down, James gave a discreet nod, signaling the start of the prank. The pumpkins sprang to life, floating above the tables, their carved faces illuminated by the soft glow of enchanted candles. They began to sing in perfect harmony, their voices a delightful mix of cheer and whimsy.

Laughter erupted around the hall as the pumpkins performed their routine, weaving between students and engaging in playful antics. One pumpkin pretended to be a Quidditch commentator, narrating the movements of those below, while another led a group in a spirited dance.

Professor McGonagall, initially stern-faced, couldn't help but smile at the sight. Even Professor Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with amusement as a pumpkin floated past him, tipping its stem in a polite greeting.

Eliza, caught in the midst of the laughter and joy, felt a weight lift off her shoulders. For the first time in weeks, she felt a sense of normalcy returning. Surrounded by her friends and the infectious happiness of the prank, the nightmares seemed to fade into the background, if only for a moment.

Remus, sitting close beside her, leaned in and whispered, "How are you feeling, love?"

Eliza turned to him, her eyes sparkling with a blend of emotion. "Better," she admitted, her voice steady. "Thanks to all of you."

Sirius, overhearing their conversation, grinned widely. "This is just the beginning, Eliza. We've got a whole year left to make unforgettable memories."

Peter, nodding in agreement, added, "And we'll be right here with you, every step of the way."

As the pumpkin parade continued, filling the Great Hall with music and laughter, Eliza felt a renewed sense of hope. The road ahead might still be fraught with challenges, but with her friends by her side, she knew she could face anything.

The night ended with the pumpkins returning to their places, their enchantments slowly fading. The students, still buzzing with excitement, left the hall with smiles on their faces and stories to tell. The Marauders, satisfied with their success, walked back to the common room with Eliza, their spirits lifted by the joy they had brought.

As they settled down for the night, Eliza felt a sense of peace she hadn't experienced in a long time. Surrounded by the warmth and love of her friends, she knew that together, they could conquer any darkness. And for the first time in weeks, she drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face, her heart light and hopeful for the days to come.
