Scene: Buck's Apartment, Evening

Buck and Christopher sit together at the kitchen table, the warm, inviting glow of the kitchen light casting a cozy ambiance. The aroma of the simple dinner Buck prepared fills the air—grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, a comforting meal that seems to ease the tension in both of them.

Buck watches as Christopher takes a bite of his sandwich, his small hands gripping it tightly. He can see the boy’s spirits lifting, bit by bit, with each passing day.

Buck: (cheerfully) "So, Chris, tell me more about your day. How was school?"

Christopher looks up, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he wipes some crumbs off his face.

Christopher: "It was okay. We had math and science today. I got an A on my math test."

Buck’s face lights up with pride, his eyes twinkling.

Buck: "That’s amazing, buddy! You're better at math than me, that's for sure. Your dad’s going to be so proud when he hears that."

Christopher's smile widens, the praise lifting his spirits. He takes another bite of his sandwich, chewing thoughtfully before speaking again.

Christopher: "And at recess, I watched the other kids play soccer. I told them about Dad, and they all said they hope he gets better soon."

Buck nods, his heart swelling with pride at Christopher's resilience and the support from his friends.

Buck: "That’s really nice of them. Your dad’s got a lot of people rooting for him."

Christopher looks down at his soup, stirring it absently with his spoon. His voice is softer when he speaks again.

Christopher: "Buck, can we visit Dad tomorrow? I really wanna see him"

Buck reaches out, placing a comforting hand on Christopher’s shoulder. He understands the boy’s need to see his father, to reassure himself that Eddie is getting better.

Buck: "Of course we can. Your dad will be happy to see you."

Christopher’s face brightens at Buck’s words, a flicker of hope returning to his eyes. He takes a sip of his soup, the warmth spreading through him.

Christopher: "Thanks, Buck. I miss him a lot."

Buck squeezes Christopher’s shoulder gently, his voice filled with reassurance.

Buck: "I know you do, Chris. And he misses you too. But he’s getting better, and soon enough, he’ll be home with you."

Christopher nods, the hope in his eyes growing stronger. They finish their dinner, the atmosphere lightened by their conversation.

After dinner, Buck suggests they watch a movie. They settle on the couch, Christopher nestled against Buck’s side as the movie plays. Buck can feel the boy relaxing, the day’s worries slowly fading away.

As the movie ends and Christopher’s eyelids grow heavy with sleep, Buck carries him to bed. He tucks Christopher in, making sure he’s comfortable before sitting on the edge of the bed.

Buck: "Goodnight, Chris. Sweet dreams."

Christopher’s voice is a sleepy murmur as he responds.

Christopher: "Goodnight, Buck. Thanks for everything. I love you"

Buck smiles, brushing a strand of hair from Christopher’s forehead.

Buck: "Anytime, buddy. I love you too. Sleep well."

He watches as Christopher drifts off to sleep, his face peaceful. Buck quietly leaves the room, closing the door softly behind him.

Back in the living room, Buck sits on the couch, his thoughts drifting to Eddie. He knows the road ahead will be challenging, but he’s determined to be there for both Eddie and Christopher every step of the way. As he settles in for the night, he feels a sense of peace, knowing they are all in this together.

Scene: Hospital, Recovery Room, the next day

Christopher's visits bring a new kind of energy to Eddie's recovery. The sterile hospital room feels warmer, more alive, whenever Christopher is around. Eddie’s face lights up at the sight of his son, the bond between them providing a powerful source of motivation.

Christopher: "Hi, Dad!"

Eddie's smile widens, his eyes sparkling with love and relief.

Eddie: "Hey, buddy. How's it going?"

Christopher climbs onto the bed carefully, mindful of the IV lines and bandages. He snuggles up next to his father, his small hand slipping into Eddie's larger one. Eddie holds on tightly, his heart swelling with gratitude and love.

Buck watches from the doorway, his heart full as he witnesses their reunion. The sight of Eddie and Christopher together is a poignant reminder of what matters most. Buck takes a step back, giving them the space they need.

Buck: "I'll give you two some time alone. I'll be right outside."

Eddie nods appreciatively, his attention focused on his son.

Eddie: "Thanks, Buck."

Buck lingers for a moment longer, taking in the heartwarming scene before quietly closing the door behind him. He finds a chair in the hallway and sits down, his thoughts drifting back to the last few days.

Inside the room, Christopher nestles closer to Eddie, his eyes filled with concern.

Christopher: "Are you feeling better, Dad?"

Eddie squeezes his son’s hand reassuringly, his voice gentle.

Eddie: "I am, buddy. Especially now that you’re here. How’s school been?"

Christopher’s face brightens a little at the change of topic.

Christopher: "It’s been good. Buck’s been helping me with my homework. He’s really good at English, but he's terrible at math."

Eddie chuckles softly, the sound filled with warmth.

Eddie: "I’m glad to hear that you're happy with Buck. He’s a great guy, isn’t he?"

Christopher nods enthusiastically, his worries momentarily forgotten.

Christopher: "Yeah, he is. He’s been taking really good care of me. He makes me laugh all the time, even when I'm sad because you're hurt."

Eddie’s eyes glisten with unshed tears. He feels a surge of gratitude towards Buck for stepping up when he needed him most.

Eddie: "That’s good to hear. You know, I’m really proud of you, Chris. You’re being so strong."

Christopher’s eyes fill with tears, his voice trembling.

Christopher: "I was so scared when Buck told me, Dad. I thought... I thought I might lose you. I didn't want to lose you just like I lost Mom."

Eddie pulls Christopher into a gentle hug, his voice soothing.

Eddie: "I know, buddy. But I’m not going anywhere. I promise. I love you."

Christopher clings to his father, his small frame shaking with emotion. Eddie holds him close, whispering reassurances until Christopher calms down.

Christopher: "I love you too. I’m just so glad you’re okay."

Eddie kisses the top of his son’s head, his own eyes misting over.

Eddie: "Me too, Chris. Me too."

They sit together in silence for a while, drawing strength from each other. The sound of the heart monitor beeping softly in the background becomes a comforting rhythm.
