Scene: Maddie’s Apartment
Later that night, Buck and Eddie arrived at Maddie’s place, a sense of excitement coursing through them. Buck felt a mix of joy and anxiety bubbling in his chest. He couldn't wait to share the news, but he was also nervous about how she would react.
As they stepped inside, the warmth of Maddie's apartment enveloped them, filled with the soft glow of lamps and the comforting scent of her favorite candles. Maddie was perched on the couch, flipping through a magazine, and looked up with a bright smile when she saw them.
Maddie (grinning): “Hey! What brings you two here so late? You look like you’ve just won the lottery!”
Buck couldn’t contain his excitement any longer. Instead of answering verbally, he held out his hand, revealing the sparkling engagement ring nestled on his finger.
Maddie (gasping, eyes widening): “Oh my God! Buck, Eddie! You’re engaged?”
Buck nodded enthusiastically, his smile spreading ear to ear, as Eddie stepped closer, pride shining in his eyes.
Maddie (rushing over and throwing her arms around Buck): “I can’t believe it! I’m so happy for you both!”
She then pulled Eddie into a tight embrace, holding him just as fiercely. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she stepped back to take in the sight of them, beaming with joy.
Maddie: “You guys! This is incredible! How did it happen? Who proposed? I want to know everything!”
Eddie chuckled, glancing at Buck, who looked a little bashful.
Eddie (grinning): “Well, it was a bit of a surprise, actually. We were on the rooftop at Station 118, and it turned into this beautiful moment under the stars.”
Buck (interjected, his excitement bubbling over): “Yeah! We were just taking in the view, and suddenly everything felt perfect. It felt right to ask him, you know? I just knew I wanted to spend my life with Eddie.”
Maddie (leaning in, her eyes wide with curiosity): “And then what happened? Did you get down on one knee?”
Eddie (smirking): “Actually, I did! I pulled out the ring, and I was so nervous. But Buck surprised me because he had a ring too! We both ended up asking each other at the same time!”
Maddie laughed, her heart swelling with happiness for them.
Maddie: “That is the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard! You two really are perfect for each other.”
Buck’s face lit up, feeling the warmth of her words wrap around him like a hug.
Buck: “Thanks, Maddie. I just... I’ve never felt like this before. Eddie makes me feel complete.”
Eddie (nodding): “And Buck has shown me what it means to truly love and be loved. It’s been a journey, especially after everything we’ve faced—the accidents, the loss of family, raising Christopher together. It brought us closer, and now, this feels like the next step.”
Buck (concerned): “Maddie... are you sure you’re okay with this? I mean, me not doing things the traditional way... no wife, no kids...”
Maddie’s expression softened, her eyes glistening with tears. She moved closer, cupping Buck’s face in her hands.
Maddie: “Buck, as long as you’re happy, I’m happy. And about kids... you’ve already got one. Christopher is your family, and that’s all that matters. You’ve created a beautiful little life together.”
