Scene: Hotel Ballroom - Late During The Night, After A Lot Of Drinks
As the night wore on, the drinks flowed even more freely, and the atmosphere in the hotel ballroom became electric. Laughter echoed off the walls, and the energy was infectious. Guests, now comfortably buzzed or completely inebriated, danced wildly to the upbeat tunes pumping from the DJ's speakers. Buck and Eddie, their cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling, joined their friends in the middle of the dance floor, where the chaotic energy reached its peak.
Chimney (raising his drink): “Who’s ready for another round?!”
Maddie (slurring her words slightly): “I’m in! Let’s keep the party going!”
Hen and Karen were already on the floor, arm in arm, belting out lyrics to a pop anthem while twirling around like a couple of kids. Eddie and Buck laughed at the sight, unable to resist joining in on the fun.
Eddie (grinning at Buck): “Think we can out-dance them?”
Buck (playfully): “I bet we can! Let’s show them how it’s done!”
Buck pulled Eddie into the center of the circle, where their friends clapped and cheered. They danced like no one was watching, their moves uninhibited and carefree. Buck lifted Eddie effortlessly, spinning him around, causing a round of cheers from the crowd.
Buck (playfully): “Look at us! We’re practically pros!”
Suddenly, in a fit of inspiration fueled by a few too many drinks, Chimney shouted : “Let’s recreate that iconic scene from Dirty Dancing! Buck and Eddie, you’ve got to do it!”
Maddie (giggling): “Yes! You guys have to do the lift!”
Hen (nodding enthusiastically): “Come on, Buck! You’ve got this!”
Buck glanced at Eddie, eyes alight with mischief.
Buck (with a cheeky grin): “Alright, Eddie! Let’s do it!”
Eddie rolled his eyes playfully, but there was a spark of excitement in his expression.
Eddie (teasing): “Just remember, I’m the one who gets lifted!”
Buck (feigning seriousness): “Of course, Baby! Just try not to kick me in the face!”
As the music shifted to the iconic theme from Dirty Dancing, Buck stepped back dramatically, holding his arms out as if he were about to catch a falling star.
Buck (in a mock-serious tone): “This is it! No pressure!”
Eddie stepped forward, striking a dramatic pose, his arms wide and a playful grin on his face. The rest of the group erupted in cheers, their excitement palpable. Buck lunged forward, attempting to catch Eddie in a lift. But just as he swung Eddie up, they both lost their balance, and instead of a graceful lift, it turned into a spectacular stumble.
Hen (shouting): “Oh no!”
The sound of laughter filled the air as Buck and Eddie flailed, Eddie’s legs kicking out as he tried to regain his balance. They crashed to the ground in a heap of limbs and laughter, Buck landing partially on top of Eddie, who was gasping for breath.
Eddie (giggling uncontrollably): “Well, that was not how it was supposed to go!”
The crowd erupted into laughter, surrounding them with amused smiles. Bobby, watching from the side, chuckled but also rushed over, concern etched on his face.
Bobby (grinning but serious): “Are you two okay? You’re not going to end up in the ER before the wedding, are you?”
Buck, still half-laying on Eddie, waved dismissively.
Buck (with a laugh): “We’re fine! Just testing gravity!”
Chimney (joining in the laughter): “Yeah, Buck and Eddie, the new stunt doubles for Dirty Dancing!”
With the laughter subsiding, Buck finally pushed himself off of Eddie and helped him up, both of them still chuckling at the failed attempt.
Eddie (wiping tears of laughter from his eyes): “Next time, I’m the one who lifts!”
The night continued, the group dancing and singing with wild abandon, the room buzzing with energy and camaraderie. They took turns spinning each other around, raising their glasses, and singing off-key to every song that played.
Hen (swaying with Karen): “We should do this more often!”
Karen (laughing): “Absolutely! Just not with this much alcohol!”
Chimney suddenly broke into a rendition of a classic 80s ballad, causing everyone to join in, the lyrics slurred but the enthusiasm palpable. Buck grabbed Eddie's hand and pulled him into a spin, then twirled him back into his arms.
Buck (grinning): “You’re such a great dancer, Eddie! Who knew you had it in you?”
Eddie (laughing, breathless): *“I’m just trying to keep up with you, Babe!”
With drinks in hand, they raised their glasses high, the clinking sound echoing through the hall.
Chimney (grinning): “To Buck and Eddie! The best couple and the worst dancers!”
Everyone cheered, taking sips from their drinks, their faces lit up with joy and mischief. Buck leaned into Eddie, feeling the warmth of his partner beside him.
Buck (playfully): “You think we can pull off a dance routine for the wedding?”
Eddie (laughing): “Only if we have a safety net!”
The laughter was contagious, and soon they were all caught up in a spontaneous dance-off, couples trying to outdo each other with silly moves and exaggerated spins. The ballroom became a whirl of colorful dresses and flashy suits, everyone forgetting their worries and losing themselves in the joy of the moment.
Maddie (shouting over the music): “Let’s take a group selfie!”
As they all huddled together, Buck squeezed Eddie's waist, their faces beaming with happiness. They clicked the picture, capturing their silly expressions and the love that filled the room.
As the night pressed on, they danced until their feet were sore, the laughter ringing in their ears, the joy of friendship and love wrapping around them like a blanket. With Bobby, sober, keeping an eye on them, the night continued to spiral into fun, filled with silly dance moves, karaoke, and drunken toasts.
Chimney (attempting a dramatic pose): “Alright, who wants to see my best moves?”
He broke into an outrageous dance, complete with flailing arms and exaggerated facial expressions, causing everyone to erupt into laughter once again.
Eddie (teasing): “Chimney, you’re going to hurt yourself!”
Buck (laughing): “Or worse, you might scare off the wedding guests!”
In the end, the hotel ballroom was filled with the sound of their laughter, echoing long into the night—a perfect prelude to their upcoming wedding and a memory that none of them would forget anytime soon.
As they finally started to wind down, Buck found himself wrapped in Eddie's arms, the world spinning gently around them.
Eddie (leaning down to whisper): “You know, I could get used to this.”
Buck (grinning up at him): “Me too, Babe. Just promise me we’ll never try that lift again!”
Eddie chuckled, kissing Buck softly, sealing the moment with a warmth that would carry them through the rest of the night.
