Scene: Hospital Room, One Month After Buck's Accident
The days had bled into weeks, and the weeks into a full month. The hospital had become a second home for Buck and Eddie, but now there was a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Buck was sitting up in bed, his face showing signs of renewed strength. Eddie was by his side, as always, a comforting presence that Buck had come to depend on more than ever.
Buck's doctor, Dr. Hawkins, entered the room, his demeanor professional yet warm. He had good news, and the atmosphere seemed to lift immediately.
Dr. Hawkins: "Well, Buck, I’ve got some good news for you. If everything goes well, you’ll be able to go home in a few days."
Buck's eyes widened, and he looked at Eddie with a mixture of excitement and relief.
Buck: "Really? I can finally go home?"
Dr. Hawkins nodded, a smile playing on his lips.
Dr. Hawkins: "Yes, you've made remarkable progress. But you’ll still need a lot of care and attention at home. Eddie, I trust you’ll be there to help him?"
Eddie: "Absolutely. I wouldn’t be anywhere else."
Dr. Hawkins: "Good to hear. Nurse Nic will be here shortly to show you how to change the bandages on Buck’s arms and apply the cream to his burns. It’s crucial that you follow these instructions carefully to prevent any complications."
As Dr. Hawkins left, Nurse Nic entered the room, carrying a tray with medical supplies. He greeted them with a friendly smile, ready to walk Eddie through the process.
Nic: "Alright, Eddie. Let's get started."
Nic demonstrated each step meticulously, showing Eddie how to gently remove the old bandages, clean the wounds, apply the medicated cream, and re-bandage Buck’s arms. Eddie watched intently, asking questions and making sure he understood every detail. Buck winced occasionally from the discomfort, but he was encouraged by Eddie’s steady hands and calm demeanor.
Eddie: "Does it hurt too much, Buck?"
Buck: "A bit, but it’s manageable. I’m just glad I’ll be able to use my hands again."
Nic: "You’re doing great, Buck. The pain should lessen over time as your skin continues to heal. Just make sure to keep the burns well-hydrated with the cream."
Buck flexed his fingers, a smile spreading across his face despite the pain. He reached out and took Eddie’s hand, relishing the simple yet profound connection.
Buck: "I’ve missed this. Holding your hand."
Eddie squeezed his hand gently, his eyes filled with love and determination.
Eddie: "Me too, Buck. We’re almost through this."
Buck nodded, feeling the comfort of Eddie's presence, and the weight of the past month began to lift. As Nurse Nic finished his demonstration, he handed Eddie a detailed instruction sheet.
Nic: "Remember, Eddie, it's important to follow these steps exactly as shown. If you have any doubts or questions, don’t hesitate to call us."
Eddie nodded, his expression serious.
Eddie: "Got it. Thanks, Nic."
Buck looked at Eddie, his eyes reflecting a mix of pain and gratitude.
Buck: "You’re really something, Eddie. I don’t know how you do it."
Eddie shrugged, a modest smile playing on his lips.
