three weeks later... Thursday 4th July 2024. The British Grand Prix

I finally walked into the paddock. Bob sent me the paddock pass a few days ago. I was so excited to meet him.

I went to the McLaren hospitality and looked around but I couldn't find him anywhere until I messaged him again

I turned around and I saw him. That wasn't Bob. That was Lando... I walked closer to him and put my hand on his cheek. I still had my mask on but he knew it was me. Did he know this whole time? I brushed my finger over his distinctive couple freckles and I knew it was him. Those brunette curls, those ocean blue eyes... that was my boy...

"Lan...?" I said with tears in my eyes. He had tears in his eyes too.

"Hi, love..."

"I don't know if I should be mad at you for not telling me that it was actually you or happy because we're finally together again..."

"I...I didn't know how to tell you. I knew it was risky, but I wanted to see you again. To be with you"

"my heart broke into a million pieces when my dad forbade me from talking to you... that's why I all of a sudden started ignoring you at school... I didn't want to... you were my best friend but my dad hated the idea of you karting and wanting to be in motorsports so he did that..."

"I'm sorry, my love. I should have tried harder to reach out to you"

"it wasn't your fault... I'm just happy that... that it's you..." i said. I hid my face in his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist while also hiding his face in my neck. We could feel each other's tears. 17 years... "I'm never letting you go again..."

"And I promise to never let you go again, either. We're in this together, always and forever"

"yeah... you still look so pretty... I can definitely tell it's you. you still look like how you did when we were like 7... besides whatever this is" I said while tickling his little goatee.

"Well, I've grown up a bit since then. But it's nice to know that some things never change. Like our connection and the way you make me feel special"

"yeah... do you wanna go somewhere out of the public eye? I'm guessing you're not an engineer"

"No, I'm a driver"

"I'm so proud of you for making it here... now, come on. Let's go somewhere more hidden" I said. He grabbed my hand and took me to his driver room. We sat on his couch and he kissed me right then and there. It was perfect. We both couldn't take our lips off each other's. My first proper kiss. "would you technically count this as my first kiss or would you count our little peck together when we were like 5" I said against his lips

"Well, I definitely count this as your first real kiss, my love. The one from when we were kids was just a little peck, but this... this is something special."

"either way... it's with you"

"I'm so glad it's with me..."

"so are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend now or are we going to go on a date first?"

"I don't think there's any need for a date, my love"

"I want a date"

"Okay, okay. I'll figure something out"

"you gonna ask me the question now?"

"Will you be my girlfriend, Lexi?"

"this would be a funny time to say no" I said. Lando laughed. He knew I would joke in this situation. "but of course I'll say yes. obviously I'll be your girlfriend"

"Now I'm really never letting you go!!!" He said and roughly bear hugged me
