"Hi, baby..." I said when he picked up the phone

"Baby, what happened??? Why are you in the hospital???"

"I found my stash of weed and had an overdose... I was clinically dead for 5 minutes and was in a coma for the rest of it. That's why I've not answered any of your messages..."

"Oh, baby. I'm so sorry. I never wanted this for you. Please tell me you're okay now"

"kinda. I'm just having a lot of blood tests and injections at the moment so they can get it all out of my system... you left for the plane and my abandonment issues got too much so that's what my brain made me do..."

"I'm so sorry. I should have stayed. I shouldn't have left you like that. Please know that it was never my intention to abandon you"

"I know it wasn't... you had to go for the race. you're an f1 driver for fucks sake so you can't really just skip a race... I've done this before anyways so it's not anything new. just kinda wish the overdose finished me off completely"

"Don't say that, baby. You're not finished. You're strong, you're brave, and you've got me by your side. We're going to get through this together, okay?"

"just everything in my body hurts... I've got plasters all over my arms from how many blood tests and injections I've had"

"I wish I could take it all away, baby. Just hold on. The doctors are there to help you. You're going to feel better soon"

"just promise me that you'll do well in the race"

"You can count on it, baby. I'll win this race for you"

"Call me after the race... I love you... maybe I'll finally teach you some Welsh if you win" I said. I could see him smiling through his tears

"I love you too, baby. And don't worry, I'll definitely call you after the race" he said. I was about to end the call but I coughed into a tissue and was spluttering all types of shit. "Are you okay? You sound awful. Please don't cough like that"

"I've been doing it a lot since the overdose. it's like a mix of kinda dirt coloured stuff and a bit of blood... the doctors said it's normal when I'm in this situation so don't panic that I'm coughing a little bit of blood up"

"Yeah, you just need to let it out. And if it's a lot, then tell the doctors immediately. I trust them to take care of you. Just don't overdo it"

"I'll tell them if it's too much. Okay, you need to go for the race. I love you"

"I'll win this race for you, baby girl. Just remember that. Take care of yourself, okay?"

"I will. call me as soon as you get off the podium. I'm 100% sure you'll be up on the podium somewhere"

"You're the best, baby. I promise I'll make you proud. Now rest and take care of yourself. I'll see you soon"

"be careful, baby"

"I will, baby girl. I promise"
