I had started cooking like crazy. Making meals everyday for us. I wanted to be a good girlfriend. Or should I say fiancée? Nah, girlfriend sounds better. I decided to try and make a brisket dish when we got home. Lando was asleep most of the day so I had time to work on it. When he came downstairs in the late afternoon his nose led him straight to the beef.

"Mmm, what's that amazing smell, Lexi?" He asked

"my first brisket. I've been cooking it all day" I said as I sliced a small piece off and passed the fork to him. "taste it. Hopefully it tastes alright. I think I used the right amount of spices and seasonings" I said. He took a bite and he moaned. I'm guessing that was a good thing.

"Oh my god, Lexi! This is incredible! You've outdone yourself. The brisket is perfectly tender and flavorful. I can't believe you made this for me"

"good. it's only a small one so it should do us both. but if you like it that much then I can put it on the list of recipes for us"

"I think I might need you to make this brisket a little more often, my love. It's so good! And yes, please add it to the list. We should try different recipes together and create our own book of favourites"

"maybe I'll make it a weekly thing when we're at home and not at races"

"Sounds like a plan, my love. And I'm looking forward to all the delicious meals you'll be cooking for us"

"I need some more ideas for some food. maybe find something that you really want me to make because I wanna make this salmon dish but I know you hate fish so if you find something that you would want when I do that and I can see what I can do"

"Some pasta should be fine for me on those days"

He absolutely scranned the brisket. He absolutely loved it. The next day I made my salmon. He hadn't woken up yet so I didn't make his pasta but then he snuck up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist

"Hey, baby" I said as I put the salmon on my plate. "you're so annoying for hating fish"

"I can't help it, fish just doesn't agree with me. But I will admit that your salmon dish smells incredible"

"well would you try it if I put some spices on it? it might get rid of the fishy taste?"

"You really are determined to get me to eat fish, aren't you? But if it means that much to you, I'll try it with the spices" he said. I put some paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and a bit of lemon on it and fed him. He actually didn't gag. He swallowed it.

"It doesn't taste like fish anymore..."

"So you would actually eat it if I put spices on it?"

"Yeah, it doesn't taste like fish so yeah. The texture isn't actually as bad as I remember and same with the smell..."

"Thank god. it will give you a chance to stop drinking those horrible omega 3 drinks because you don't eat fish. maybe we could have this once a week?"

"Once a week sounds reasonable. And yes, I'll definitely try to cut back on those omega-3 drinks. They taste disgusting anyway"

"I'm actually so proud of you for actually being willing to eat some fish if I put spices on it. we're making progress. one day I'll get you to love sushi"

"You're a determined woman, I'll give you that. But sushi is a different story altogether. Maybe we can work on that after I get used to this fish thing"

"I'll put another salmon piece in the oven for me. I'll let you have the piece I've already cooked seeing as there's some spices on it already. maybe it's worth putting a little bit more spices on it until you like it"

"You're on a roll tonight, aren't you? But I trust your cooking skills, so go ahead and put some extra spices on it. If that's what it takes to convert me, so be it."

"I'm so proud of you for actually trying the fish and trying to find a way to eat it"

"I'm still not crazy about it, but I'll eat it if it means making you happy. And who knows, maybe with time I'll start to like it more."

"at least the spices are making it taste better for you" I said while stroking his hair as he took another bite. Once again, he didn't gag or make a disgusted face. I was so proud of him.
